Artful is a French Magician who's had a deep connection to magic since birth, and WAS a popular celebrity before his... "incident."

After one of his performances went particularly badly, Artful let his emotions get the better of him and resorted to "taking out his frustrations on his entire audience." He now lives his life as a criminal on the run, too afraid to turn himself in and deal with the consequences of his actions.

Biography:

Artful is a french magician, by all accounts a civilian not much different than any other, however he does possess one trick that makes him stand out, supposedly Artful is in control of real magical capabilities.

Artful in all other means is rather average, though his ability to manifest objects out of the air to aid him is a trait best not underestimated.

Some objects Artful has been observed creating are walls, music boxes, and puppets, all of which seemingly bend to his will, however they also aren't particularly durable, appearing to crumble away into dust over time, or shatter early given they go under any form of heavy pressure.

Originally all considered to be smokes and mirrors, assisted by elaborate usage of trapdoors, the Government was in for a shock when they discovered the scene of Artful's "incident," and the realization they were dealing with something much, much larger than they originally thought.

The cause for Artful's incident is wildly unknown, while there was one surviving witness from the encounter, they have been hospitalized until further notice, as the Government tends to the wounds they sustained.

Many speculate it was due to the particularly high amount of hecklers in the audience the day of the incident, however Artful notoriously had a reputation for not letting hecklers get to him, and even would play off of their jokes and jabs at him for the entertainment of others.

Others believe that it ties into something personal happening in his life behind the scenes, as despite being a very popular figure, many in his position have struggled to find true companionship, pushing some to do dangerous actions, though none quite as devastating as Artful's incident.

One things remains certain, Artful is now a wanted man on the run, the Government sending many resources to attempt to capture Artful, Alive.

Background:

Artful, or as he is known when not preforming, Jean "Degaré" Fromage, is the youngest of the Fromage family, a very rich and influential family.

At a young age Artful has always had a fascination with magic, learning about it from TV and becoming completely enamored with the idea of magic. While his father thought it was a stupid waste of money and time, Artful's mother was very supportive of his passion and allowed him to experiment with it.

As Artful grew older and graduated college, he was originally planning to continue running the family construction business with his two older brothers, however after a workplace incident left Artful in a condition rendering him unable to work, leading to paid leave for the time being, he got back into his old passion of magic tricks to pass the time, indirectly leading to his discovery of real magic.

Artful notably had a great relationship with his mother and older brothers, however relations between him and his father were always especially rocky.

The Fromage family was always very approachable and open, to the begrudging agreement of Artful's father, giving away money to support those in need, though something occurred a few weeks prior to the events of Artful's incident that caused them to become a lot more cold and unwelcoming. Though the events of this remain unstated by the Fromage family.

From an interview with Artful's brothers, they are still in shock and bewilderment from the behavior of their younger brother, having no idea what could've led to them going down this path they've chosen. Hoping that one day they get an answer to the madness.
Artful's abilities seem to tie into some anomalous power source of which scientists can't confirm nor deny its existence, by all accounts Artful is seemingly defying all laws of nature and science. Other than most apparently, his wand, which appears to be an uninteresting wooden wand, something easily replaceable if lost.

Though Artful's wand is nothing more than a tool for his other, more impactful abilities.

Artful is able to use his wand to conjure objects, the first of these objects being a simple wall. This wall, while not very flashy or jaw-dropping, serves its purpose, being able to close off pathways efficiently, and traps victims in between Artful and a dead end. Thankfully this wall appears to rapidly crumble away over time, allowing civilians the opportunity to escape given enough time has passed, or if said civilian has the ability to apply a heavy amount of pressure to the wall, they can break through it early and escape.

Alternatively, Artful can condense any wall into a compact cube and hurl them forwards at a rapid rate, giving them an option to cause some damage from a distance.

Artful's other most common magical creation is a music box, while it isn't directly a threat, civilians being in range of one of these music boxes has a beam of energy latch onto them, greatly slowing their movement. However, Artful can also command the music box to instead expel energy onto Artful, giving him a notable speed boost to assist in him catching up to civilians, οι position themselves accordingly. Lastly, Artful has the ability to manifest a puppet, like walls, they are made entirely out of dust or other natural resources. They are fully under Artful's orders, and are able to carry out simple tasks or commands, though in the case of Artful, the only order they are given is to track down the nearest civilian. They are very simple, yet they still pack a punch, and they're able endure quite a lengthy amount of punishment before shattering, interestingly, Artful only seems to create one of these puppets after copying someone from a civilian he's close enough to. Not much else is known about how he creates these seemingly nearly sentient assistances.

The Government is very interested in successfully capturing Artful, for multiple reasons.

Firstly, the simple overarching reason of why, Artful did what he did.

But furthermore, they are willing to make a compromise with Artful, they are willing to pardon his punishments, and allow him to use his talents for the greater good. The Government is very interested in the real magic Artful is capable of, if Artful was seemingly able to learn it on his own, there is possibility that he would be able to teach or grant it to others, and with how rapidly the world has been falling apart, more people such as Artful could be exactly what they need to help turn things around.

Artful has been notably difficult to capture, though they're still very susceptible to traditional means of capture, though they've been straying far away from any towns or civilization, staying deep within forest regions.

However, the Government has been doing their best to avoid anything that could potentially harm Artful, such as tranquilizer darts, or other options to knock Artful unconscious, and especially avoiding anything that could be classified as lethal.

Artful however does not respect this sentiment, likely being intimidated and afraid of being captured, being unwilling to talk, and being fearful of the believed consequences for his incident.

The Government believes that if Artful is capable of conjuring simple objects such as walls or functional music boxes, then they believe that they could assist in helping him reach his full potential.

Status:

Artful currently lives in the forest, alongside several other known mass murderers. Yet said forest is still a popular hiking trail for Civilians.

He's not always moving, staying at one place from time to time, but when he notices any signs of civilians (like traps, houses, trails) he moves somewhere else.

He occasionally leaves to gather supplies for himself. During this process, he takes off his make-up and wears clothes people don't expect him to wear.

He puts the make-up back on to hopefully keep unlucky wanderers away. (So they run away when they see a known mass murderer).

He still doesn't cook. He at least cleans his food before eating it.

He makes sure he doesn't eat anything unsanitary that could get him sick or poisoned.

This led to him learning to identify poisonous plants apart from edible ones, however, the list is rather short, due to most of the plants being edible.

He spends most of his time scavenging, hunting, practicing magic and trying to cope with what he'd done to his audience.

Whenever he tries to practice his magic, he gets reminded of the incident, which slows down the process a lot.

Appearance:

Artful is a white skinned Robloxian with a usually angry or tired face that is covered by a black half-broken mask resembling a Phantom of the Opera mask. He is dressed in a formal attire consisting of a wide-brimmed black top hat or fedora hat, a white dress shirt with a black tie under a black vest with black trousers and black shoes. Artful also wields a black and white magic wand.

Artful is bald.

HOWEVER, It has been said that he wasn't always bald. He cut his hair completely, as it got in his view during performances. His hair color was black, alongside his hair being described as smooth and wavy.

Relationships:

· Artful's Family: Artful's family, similar to the government, believes that Artful is able to redeem himself. Though Artful still hasn't forgiven himself.

· Lizzy: Artful's self-titled "#1 fan". She was a regular, showing up to basically every performance, she frequently went to meet up and talk with Artful after his show up to the point that she was easily recognizable to him. She gifted Artful a stuffed teddy bear which is his most treasured gift. It was gifted to him fairly early on into his magician job, and really cemented to him that he could be an inspiration for people. She was thought to be dead after the events that took place during Artful's incident. Artful feels especially guilty for this, believing she was dead.

· Pursuer: An Apex Predator of unknown origin, its speed and hunting abilities are unmatched. With its unique ability to turn completely invisible, it's able to sneak up on unsuspecting prey before quickly dispatching of them without a trace. By the time Civilians hear its howl far off in the distance, it's already too late. However for Artful, he treats Pursuer like a wild raccoon or a house cat. As Pursuer is too disgusted by the smell and taste of Artful's makeup to attack him.

· Harken: A Construct originating from an Alternate Dimension, where noise draws in larger, more dangerous Constructs. After Government Scientists created a portal connecting their two universes together, it caught the attention of Harken, who crossed to the other side, and went into a frenzy, slaughtering the Scientists to attempt to silence them, and stay hidden from potential threats. She now spends her days wandering our world, seeking silence, and killing any Civilians unlucky enough to be heard by her. Artful usually calms Harken down from her frenzies using soft melodies of from his magic music boxes.

Relationships²:

· Badware: Badware is a sentient computer virus driven by malicious purposes. While its creation is unknown, it possesses the anomalous ability to inject a powerful virus into nearby machinery, gaining the ability to take full control of those infected machines as sentient minions, expanding it's own strength and influence further. Badware usually comes to Artful during the rain to protect itself with Artful's magic shelters. In exchange, Badware allows Artful to access the internet and talk through Aeroware/Goldie through it's computer screen.

· Killdroid: Killdroid is an experimental robotic bodyguard prototype that was planned to be mass produced by the Government to watch over and protect Civilians. However, during one of his test runs, they began going haywire and went rogue, trashing the testing site they were at, and escaping out into the world. The Government still doesn't know the cause of it's malfunction and all mass production efforts have been put on hiatus until further notice. Similar to Badware, Killdroid joins Artful in his magic shelter to protect himself from rain.

Trivia:

· Artful had a pet goldfish named Goldie. Goldie has since been released into a pond at a local park due to Artful being unable to care for them due to him being on the run. Though Artful has read in a stolen newspaper that one of Badware's minions, Aeroware has two fished controlling it. One of which being Goldie.

· On a scale from 1-French, Artful is a solid 4-5 on the French Scale. He speaks the language, eats the food, enjoys the culture, and has the accent. However, he isn't mega crazy about anything.

· Artful has a degree on engineering.

· Artful likes Italian cuisine. Artful's absolute favorite dish is anything with noodles or general pasta, his personal favorite is Gnocchi Pasta.

· Artful's favorite fruits are pears and dragonfruits.

· Artful can only swim with pool floaties.

· Artful enjoyed cheesy romance shows. He has since moved onto cheesy romance novels.

· Artful is the youngest child in his family. He has two older brothers. Growing up, he had less attention compared to his brothers.

· Artful was originally going to take over his family's business (which is primarily construction
· Artful's family used to watch his shows when they had the opportunity. His mother was very fond of his decision and supported him the most. His 2 brothers were supportive too. His father was not too happy about it, as he sees it as a pathetic waste of time, however, he slowly warmed up to accept his son's choices to be supportive.

· The music coming from Artful's music boxes were created by himself.
