Jungkook was strolling through the garden when he noticed an unusual movement at the gate. A messenger from a neighboring kingdom was clearly alarmed by something, loudly demanding an immediate audience with the king. The prince chuckled, approaching out of curiosity. The messenger unrolled the scroll and, noticing the heir, handed it to him with trembling hands. Jungkook's eyes scanned the lines, and his stomach sank. The king of the neighboring kingdom was marching against them.

Logically, the alarm should have been raised, but the thought that Taehyung himself would be among the attackers took Jungkook's breath away.

"Be quiet," was all he said to the messenger, taking the scroll. The messenger probably assumed the prince didn't want to sow panic. But Jungkook didn't warn anyone.

The night was sleepless. Sitting in his chambers, he heard the first explosion—muffled, distant—and involuntarily shuddered. The castle immediately erupted in commotion. The army, unprepared for such a threat, was hastily gathering. Meanwhile, the capital's borders were already ablaze.

Jungkook stepped out onto the balcony, biting his lip as he gazed at the scarlet reflections in the distance. There was no fear. Only a desire to see Taehyung again.

His father had forbidden them to see each other three years ago. And all this time, Jungkook had lived with this melancholy, dreaming of just one glimpse of his beloved face. Now, going beyond the gates was madness, but he sat on the balcony until morning, watching the lands that were once supposed to be his crumble. The kingdom slowly fell. Almost no one remained in the castle; some fled, others hid in shelters.

Finally, the fortress gates creaked open. An army entered with heavy, measured steps. A familiar figure led the way. Jungkook jumped to his feet, unable to tear his eyes away.
One of the soldiers said something to the king. He raised his head, and their eyes met.

Taehyung immediately rushed to the entrance, leaving the army.
Jungkook flew out to meet him, stopped a couple of steps away, breathing heavily.

Only his eyes were visible from under the helmet. Taehyung looked at him, in his nightshirt, barefoot, confused, and smiled faintly.

“I missed you,” he exhaled hoarsely, his voice breaking.
