Rain lashed against the rusty pipe, slippery and cold. Jungkook, clutching a plastic bag in his teeth, struggled to find the next clamp. His fingers were numb, but the thought of Taehyung locked in the room drove him upward.

The window was the only glimmer of light in the dark facade of the house. Behind the cloudy glass, Taehyung sat on the windowsill, his knees pulled to his chest. A fresh bruise glowed red on his cheek.

Jungkook tapped his knuckles. Taehyung winced, walked over, and with difficulty pushed the frame back.

"Hey, baby," Jungkook breathed, stumbling inside. He was dripping. He spat out the bag, untied it, and pulled out a crumpled pack of cigarettes and three brightly colored lollipops.

Taehyung stared silently. There was an emptiness in his gaze that Jungkook had seen too often lately, and for good reason.

"Taehyung, take a few things and gather your documents," Jungkook said quietly, shoving some candy into his hand. "I promise. I'll pick you up tomorrow."

Taehyung took the lollipop, unwrapping it, and nodded quietly, putting it in his mouth and smacking his lips.

Jungkook reached out and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, feeling him tense. He brushed his lips lightly behind the younger's ear and then climbed back into the darkness. Taehyung stood there, clutching his cigarettes to his chest, watching him go.

"I'll come back for you tomorrow," Jungkook said into the darkness, clinging to the wet metal. "I definitely will."
