The gray days dragged on endlessly as he worked at the machine. Jungkook kept stretching his stiff back and neck, the thought languidly churning in his head: why was he even working here? The factory outside the industrial city, the small salary... And everything that had happened was weighing on him.

Two of their boys fell ill last week. First a cough, then black saliva, and a couple of days later – silence. They buried them without words, without farewells, and the cause was never determined. The memory made Jungkook wince. He pulled off his gloves and, abandoning his machine, headed for lunch.

Almost everyone was gathered around the table. The morning had been exhausting, and even casual conversations had faltered. Tension hung in the air after the mechanic's death.

“The weather is better than usual today,” Namjoon said casually, taking a sip of cold coffee.

The guys perked up a bit, some joining in, others nodding in agreement. Only Taehyung, sitting to the side as usual, was gazing thoughtfully at the closed windows of the workshop. The glass was so dirty that the street was barely visible, but shadows flickered behind them.

"You know," he suddenly interrupted the general hubbub. His voice was quiet, but everyone turned around.

"I think I know what killed the guys," Taehyung forced out the words with difficulty, swallowing the lump in his throat. "The evening before Deitor died, I saw something white near the workshop window. About a couple of meters tall."

There was a pause. The colleagues exchanged glances, and then someone couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Taehyung-ah," Namjoon chuckled, shaking his head, "has the squirrel gotten too big? You should stop."

A few people laughed, but it sounded nervous and forced. Taehyung only clutched his mug tighter, his gaze fixed on the foggy window.
