When Taehyung, clutching the Valentine's Day card so tightly his fingers trembled, handed it over to his first love, Namjoon, he could barely think straight. The urge to run was so strong that his legs buckled, but he stood there, staring at the floor and trying his best to hide his shaking hands.

Namjoon stood among his friends, lazily glancing at the pink paper and pursing his lips. He casually opened the envelope and skimmed the text, not even reading it carefully, just skimming it. A smile touched his lips. He waved the valentine in front of Taehyung's face, and with his other hand, grabbed his chin, roughly forcing him to look up.

“You need to become bad if you want to be with me,” he said mockingly and let go, as if throwing her away.

Taehyung barely held back his tears and left, feeling everything inside him crumble. But the word "bad" stuck in his head too much. He firmly decided: he would do anything, just so Namjoon would finally pay attention to him.

In a matter of weeks, his life fell apart. Straight A's turned into F's, he dropped out of school, burned his notebooks and schoolbag, started drinking and smoking, emulating the very same parties he had once despised, and started his own group.

That evening, returning home from yet another drinking binge, Taehyung climbed over a fence to escape the cops and fell awkwardly to the ground. Namjoon, smoking nearby, glanced at the drunken body and reluctantly approached. Taehyung raised his clouded gaze, not immediately recognizing the familiar features, and stretched his lips into a semblance of a drunken smile.

"Cool enough to be with you now?" Taehyung's voice trails off, and he speaks slowly, as if trying to be more coherent, reaching out to Namjoon with a trembling hand.

Namjoon curled his lips in disgust and kicked him hard in the arm, sending him flying.

“What a disgusting thing,” he said, throwing an unextinguished cigarette butt at Taehyung.
