Observing the earth had become unbearably boring. Jungkook, sprawled on a throne of dark wood and black marble, twirled a kylix of thick wine in his fingers with disgust. People had adapted. Suffering had become commonplace, disasters routine, even wars had lost that consuming fire. Everything had become too... predictable. Too calm.

With a pursed lip, he drained the goblet and rose abruptly from his throne. The sound of his footsteps, heavy and measured, echoed throughout the palace's bottomless halls.

“It seems it’s time to erase this useless world and move on to the next one,” his low voice rolled across the empty space.

Taehyung, the archangel standing by the tall stained-glass window, checking a scroll, froze abruptly. The feathers on his wings ruffled, as if caught in a sudden gust of icy wind. He didn't even turn around as the word escaped his lips, racing past his thoughts:

A deathly silence fell over the room. Jungkook slowly turned to face him, a smile spreading across his lips.

"No?" he repeated, stretching out the letters. "Let me clarify one thing..."

He stepped down from the dais, and with each step he took, thin cracks spread across the marble, oozing smoke. He stopped right next to Taehyung, violating any acceptable distance. His face, a moment ago distorted with boredom, now burned with rage.

"Since when are you in charge here?" he hissed, painfully clutching the base of the archangel's wing.
