Jungkook had been alone for a long time. Loneliness was eating away at him from the inside, and the days were blurring into one endless mess of work and silence.

One day, he heard a plaintive whine coming from a box in the corner of an alley. Jungkook wanted to pass by, but something inside him prevented him. He walked closer, lifted the wet cardboard, and froze: inside sat a tiny dog, shivering from cold and hunger.

*From that day on, loneliness disappeared. Jungkook's house filled with sounds—laughter, voices, and cheerful barks. The dog quickly became accustomed to his owner: he watched his every move, lay down next to him when he read or fell asleep on the couch, and greeted him at the door, as if afraid Jungkook would never return.

He named him Tae.

Jungkook often spoke to him as if he were a person. He talked about work, about his thoughts, about how empty he felt in the evenings. And Tae listened—not just like a dog, but as if he understood every word. Sometimes, when Jungkook was sad, the dog would lay his head on his lap and look into his eyes so deeply that you could drown in them.

“Tae, I’m going to take a shower, and then we’ll go for a walk,” Jungkook said out of habit and headed to the bathroom.

As soon as he was out of sight, Tae whined softly. He felt lonely—strangely and unbearably so. He moved closer to the bathroom door, and the next moment, everything around him was bathed in light. A boy appeared on the cold tiles—blond, blue-eyed, trembling with confusion.

Jungkook, hearing the noise, abruptly pulled the curtain back and froze.

"Who the hell are you?!" he shouted, instinctively hiding behind the curtain.
