The suffocating darkness of Jungkook's apartment, reeking of chemical smoke and old perfume, enveloped Taehyung like a suffocating noose. Their overly close friendship had for years treaded a fine line between tenderness and shared self-destruction. Taehyung had grown accustomed to drowning in the high so easily provided by Jungkook—his personal dealer and sole accomplice in his escape from reality. But at some point, Taehyung grew tired of suffocating: he decided to resurface, and in this new, sober world, there was no place for Jungkook.

Taehyung came to Jungkook with the clear intention of ending things. His fingers trembled, and his chest ached with the impending farewell. Jungkook sat on the floor, casually leaning back on the sofa; his gaze immediately pierced Taehyung. On the coffee table between them, like an altar to their shared destruction, lay the prepared substances. The air in the room vibrated with temptation: one breath, and all the pain would subside. Jungkook slowly, almost tenderly, extended his hand, inviting Taehyung to sit next to him.

"I already understand everything, Tae, sit down," Jungkook smiled faintly, pushing the dose towards him. "But before you say you're leaving me, look at your hands... You can feel me flowing through your veins, so why do you need this boring, gray world without me?"
