After giving birth, Taehyung's world shrank to the size of his bedroom with the curtains tightly drawn. He didn't even have the strength to get out of bed, and the baby's cries, which should have evoked tenderness, now echoed inside only with panic and irritation.

Taehyung hated himself for this weakness, but he physically couldn't bring himself to pick up the child.

Jungkook didn't ask any unnecessary questions and didn't blame him for anything. He simply silently took control of their crumbling life: he sterilized the bottles himself, walked around the room for hours holding the baby, and prepared light broths for Taehyung, which he barely ate.

Late at night, Taehyung was awakened by a pitiful cry from the next room. Overcoming the leaden weight in his legs, he made his way barefoot to the nursery. Jungkook stood by the window in the dim light of the nightlight. His broad shoulders were slumped with exhaustion, but with astonishing, almost reverent care, he held the baby to his chest, rocking him slowly and softly humming.

Hearing a rustle at the door, Jungkook turned around. He smiled sadly, whispering barely audibly:

"What are you up for? Go lie down, Tae. We're doing just fine with the little one here, really."
