Rigel of Orion

Rigel is presented as a young man who appears to be no older than 20, with pale skin and silver or gray hair that he keeps short, just below the nape of his neck. Rigel is always shown wearing his armor, beneath which he wears a dark suit.

Rigel is a warrior loyal to his convictions, willing to do anything to protect those he loves. A faithful servant of the goddess Eris, he is willing to do anything to protect her. He had no hesitation in killing Atë when he considered her a threat to Kyōko. Rigel believes that the justice of the Sanctuary is a lie and, unlike the rest of the Saints, he only wants to protect one person, whom he is willing to defend even if it means having to endure great pain or even at the cost of his life. He also states that he hates sacrifices being made in the name of justice; in this regard, for him, there is no difference between the justice of the Sanctuary, which seeks to end evil by killing in the name of God, compared to the rest of the evil gods who want to destroy the Earth.

In the past, when Rigel was young, he was trained by Aeson of Crateris, who told him that a Saint's power does not exist to defeat others, but to protect Athena and all the people of Earth. [1] Some time later, already a Silver Saint, he disappeared from the Sanctuary. [2] He was a Saint with free access to the Saint Academy and was part of the faction that opposed the Kyōkō of the Sanctuary. [3] He used to visit the Saint Academy to see a young aspiring Saintia known as Kyōko, with whom he developed a close relationship and eventually fell in love with her. When Kyōko became the yorishiro of Eris, Rigel joined her army as the goddess's personal guardian to protect Kyōko. Rigel presents himself as a guardian of the goddess Eris. When Milo arrives at the Garden of Eden, he warns Atë of the presence of Scorpio who had defeated Phonos. Rigel expresses her concern about the danger Eris is in with the Gold Saint's presence there, making it clear that she will protect the goddess from any threat, even if it is a Gold Saint, while Atë tells her that, in the future, she will not allow this kind of impertinence. After this, Atë leaves to fight the Saint. While Atë is fighting with Milo, Rigel is alone with Eris, her blank stare finally changing from the expression she had shown until then. When Atë is finally defeated by Milo and flees with Eris so that her mother can once again grant her power, Rigel stops her and incinerates her body while explaining that he knew she was no match for a Gold Saint and that he would not allow her to continue taking advantage of the power of his goddess.

After this, she promises to protect the goddess, even at the cost of her life. Milo appears, observes the scene, and mocks the situation a bit. Rigel introduces herself to the Gold Saint and explains that she eliminated Atë because she believed she was a danger to her goddess. Milo recognizes Rigel as a Silver Saint who disappeared from the Sanctuary. The two have a brief conversation about justice and whether they should make sacrifices for it. Rigel states that she only wants to protect one person before the fight begins. A grand clash between their cosmos and attacks (Scarlet Needle vs. Ignis Fatuus Saltare) occurs, and Milo congratulates Rigel for withstanding fourteen hits from Scarlet Needle without moving an inch, before preparing to defeat Rigel and kill Eris. The battle is then interrupted by Shōko, who begs Milo not to do so, as her sister has not yet succumbed to Eris. Milo explains that it is impossible for a human to separate a god from their yorishiro, but Shōko reminds him of what he once said: "Humans can change their destiny... if they fight with all their might." Milo also chimes in to say that Athena does not want to sacrifice Kyōko either. Rigel and the others then sense Athena's powerful Cosmos as she attempts to help Shōko save Kyōko, but their actions awaken the evil goddess. Rigel attempts to help Kyōko, who is trying to retain Eris's soul within her body, but the energy released by the goddess manages to injure him and leave him unable to help her. What happens to Rigel after Eris's defeat is unknown, though it is later revealed that he survived the fight.

With the resurrection of the goddess Eris, Rigel appears to protect and escort Eris, now that Kyōko's soul has fused with the soul of the goddess. Eris reunites with Shōko in a space she created for her sister, but they are interrupted by the arrival of Saori and Milo, so Eris retreats to her Temple accompanied by Rigel. Later, Rigel meets again with Eris, who asks her if Shōko was not pretty, as she was trying to be strong so as not to get nervous, but Rigel does not answer her question and only notifies her of the arrival of a Gold Saint and asks for permission to intervene, the goddess replies that it is not necessary, because that person should be able to take care of the matter, then asks her to stop being "so formal" and call her Kyōko. Inside the Temple of Eris, Rigel appears in front of Atë and Dysnomia, interrupting their conversation. Rigel warns Atë that she will not allow them to suspect Eris and then explains her goddess's intentions. After this, she observes the arrival of a mysterious Dryad to whom she simply listens. Rigel is outside the door that leads to Eris's throne, when at that moment she feels the presence of someone approaching and asks who it is, since only those who have been called by the goddess can be in that place. Upon hearing these words, the invader says that she is arrogant to believe herself the only special being in that place. The invader begins to approach, Rigel recognizes him and with great respect refers to him by the name Aeson. Rigel asks the reason why he was chosen, but does not receive a real answer from Aeson, who only limits himself to saying that they only have the duty to protect the divinity who granted them these new lives.

At that moment, the two feel an explosion of cosmos unleashed by Eris. Rigel realizes that the goddess is suffering but seems to be happy, and Aeson tells her that they have little time to bring Shōko before Eris. Rigel goes in search of Shōko to take her to Eris. When he meets Erda and Shōko, the young woman agrees to accompany him, although Erda insists that she does not because she does not trust him. Rigel and Shōko arrive at the door that leads to Eris's compound. Aeson meets them in front of the gate, seeing Shōko he asks her who she has come looking for, since that is where her sister and Athena's soul are, to which she replies that she has come for both of them, hearing his answer he tells her that only two people will be able to return even though she is willing to continue forward, but the young woman is determined to go ahead, so Aeson explains that they must hurry, because the Temple has begun to collapse and they must go while that enclosure remains silent. Rigel observes the appearance of Atë in front of Eris's enclosure. Atë tells Rigel and Aeson that they did a good job bringing Shōko because she would kill her. Rigel mobilizes to protect her, but Shōko insists that she does not need help and begins to attack her. At that moment, to everyone's surprise, Eris leaves her enclosure to speak with her sister. Rigel silently watches what happened between the two sisters, until Shōko is injured by an attack from Eris. And, with the arrival of Saga, everyone retreats to heaven along with their goddess.
