Namjoon closed the apartment door behind him, and the smell of iron spread through the hallway. He knew Seokjin would sense it even if he was asleep. His husband always sensed everything that touched Namjoon. But now Namjoon stood, looking at his hands—there was blood on them, dark blood, almost clotted. Not his. Someone else's. And that was the only thing that worried him now.

He kicked off his shoes, trying to make no noise, and headed for the bathroom, but halfway there, he heard rustling coming from the bedroom. The door opened slightly, and Seokjin peered out—sleepy, his hair disheveled, wearing his peach-colored silk pajamas. He blinked, saw Namjoon, and his expression instantly softened.

"Joonie?" Seokjin's voice was hoarse from sleep. "You're so late... I was waiting for you, dinner's cold." He came closer and suddenly stopped, sniffing. "What's that smell...?"

Namjoon froze. His enormous shoulders, accustomed to bearing the death of others, now seemed too broad, too noticeable. He looked at his shirt… dark stains had spread across his chest, and he realized there was no way to hide them. Seokjin looked at his face, his eyes filled with the naive belief that his husband, his big teddy bear, was simply too clumsy for this world. He simply hadn't seen the whole picture yet.

“Darling... go to sleep...” Namjoon asked him quietly.
