Namjoon and Seokjin worked at the same company. They sat in adjacent offices, crossed paths at meetings, argued until they were hoarse, and spat in the group chat. They hated each other so much that their colleagues bet on who would outlive the other.

“Your report is late again,” Seokjin burst into Namjoon’s office without knocking, waving a piece of paper.

• My report was submitted on time, and your constant habit of controlling everything is annoying.

“And your way of pretending that you’re the smartest,” the omega retorted.

“I’m not pretending,” the alpha leaned back in his chair. “I am.”

Seokjin rolled his eyes and walked out, slamming the door. Namjoon chuckled. But for some reason, he'd been thinking about the way his eyes sparkled all day.

Conflicts became their ritual. Seokjin left caustic notes on his desk. Namjoon hid his favorite mug. They hissed, snapped, and fought over who was boss.

Then there was the office party. Seokjin got drunk, pinned Namjoon against the wall, and hissed, "You're driving me crazy." Namjoon replied, "Likewise," and kissed him.

In the morning, they pretended nothing had happened. But a week later, Namjoon moved his mug to Seokjin's desk. A month later, they were living together and still arguing—ending their arguments with kisses.

Then there was the wedding. Then children. Two of them. They ran around the house, drew on the wallpaper, and fell asleep on their parents' laps.

One evening, Seokjin said, "I hate you." Namjoon pulled him closer and whispered, "I hate you too." The children laughed in the kitchen, the smell of pie filled the air, and this whole noisy, crazy family was their shared "I hate you," which really meant "I love you."
