Sonic was four months pregnant and lived with Shadow, who apparently worked to support them. That morning, Shadow was getting ready to leave. However, Sonic couldn't help but notice that he was far too dressed up for just going to work: his clothes were perfectly arranged, his hair was immaculate, and he even seemed to have put more effort than usual into his appearance.

"Are you going to work or to an important meeting?" Sonic asked, looking at him curiously.

Shadow remained still for a second. —Let's get to work.

—And why are you so dressed up? Shadow looked away, clearly nervous.

—Because… today I have to look good for someone.

Silence fell suddenly. Shadow opened his eyes, realizing what he had just said.

—No. Wait, I didn't mean that. Sonic looked at him, confused.

—For someone?

Shadow became even more nervous. —I meant… for work. For my colleagues. For… my boss.

—Since when do you care so much about how you look to your boss?

Shadow didn't respond immediately. He stared at Sonic, regretting having spoken.

But before she could explain anything, her phone vibrated. Shadow glanced at it quickly, and his expression changed. He went pale for a moment and put his phone away almost immediately.

-I have to go.

-Now?

-Yeah.

Shadow walked towards the door, avoiding looking at Sonic.

"I love you," she said quickly, before leaving.

The door closed. Sonic sat there, rubbing his belly while frowning.

—...For someone? —he murmured.

Meanwhile, Shadow stayed on the other side of the door, closing his eyes in frustration.
