It's 2007, all teenagers are part of at least some kind of subculture, the streets are dangerous because there are alcoholics, drug addicts, and thugs who beat up any unconventional guys they can get their hands on.

Ruslan is a ninth-grader who transferred to a new school this winter. He's a member of the emo subculture, which often leads to him being humiliated and beaten up on the streets.

When Rus was going to his new school for the first time, he ran into one of the neighborhood thugs. They immediately got into an argument, and Tushentsov ended up getting punched in the face, which left him with a bruise.

At school, he learned that this thug was his classmate, and his name was Danila Kashina. As soon as the emo arrived at school, Danila began humiliating, beating, and calling Ruslan names, blaming him for all his problems, and generally began making his life miserable almost immediately.

Ruslan's friendships didn't work out right away; no one wanted to be friends with him, and almost everyone ignored him, which made Tushentsov a little sad, but he didn't really care.

One particularly cold January evening, Dania was strolling through the neighborhood, smoking a cigarette, when he suddenly heard someone laughing and punching in the distance. Kashin involuntarily quickened his pace and walked toward the suspected fight.

Reaching the scene, a particularly large snowdrift behind an old garage, Kashin saw several of his neighborhood friends beating and tormenting Ruslan. Tushentsov was very lightly dressed, wearing ordinary sneakers, black jeans with holes in the knees, and a thin black long-sleeved T-shirt. It was clear he was freezing cold; he was shivering, his thin fingers were already completely blue, and his teeth were chattering from the cold, almost biting his blue, trembling lips. Ruslan's mother, in a fit of anger at her son, had kicked him out into the street in the winter, without even considering his health. The cool kids from the neighborhood, seizing the opportunity and the situation, decided to mock, laugh, and beat up the frozen boy, who clearly couldn't defend himself.
