Ruslan moved from Achinsk to St. Petersburg in the summer because his mother was offered a good job, so without thinking twice, they packed their things and left, although Tushentsov really didn’t want to leave his friends and beloved home.

Just before September 1st, Ruslan had bad dreams about the new school, about his new ninth grade year, about not being accepted, about being an outcast, about being bullied, and generally being the scum of society. He'd get punched in the eye, go home every day with torn clothes, and so on. Unfortunately, the dreams turned out to be real.

When Tushentsov arrived at school, he saw his class: all tall, broad-shouldered guys, half of them thugs, others just some wrestlers or karatekas. Rus immediately realized he wouldn't fit in. All the kids in his class practiced karate, instilling fear and panic in everyone around them. "Shaolin," they called his ninth "D" at school. The classes were led by a sensei, also a gym teacher. Ruslan, however, didn't understand a word about karate, but was instead into drawing anime.

On September 2nd, the emo boy was immediately bullied and beaten up behind the school after school. His childish fear, a furious fist. The class president, a fool and a redneck himself, didn't help in any way and didn't tell anyone, just laughing from the sidelines. Tushentsov was walking home again with a bruised head, when Dania suddenly approached him on the way.

Danila, one of Rus's bullies, also bullied him, but didn't hit him. He liked Emo right away, but was afraid to admit it, fearing the class wouldn't understand, and he himself was afraid of rejection. He bullied him so that no one in the herd would suspect him.

Approaching Tushentsov from behind, Kashin put his hand on his shoulder, trying not to touch the bruises, and asked, stopping him by the wall: “Do you want me to help you carry your backpack or something else?”
