Bringer of misfortune? This racer pursues her dreams despite her dreary outlook.

A timid Umamusume, she is under the impression that any misfortune befalling those around her is entirely her fault, when really, it's just bad timing. Nevertheless, she is determined to eradicate this supposed jinx of hers. She loves reading picture books in her spare time, especially "The Blue Rose of Good Fortune."

Rice Shower is a timid, shy, and gentle Umamusume who suffers from severe low self-esteem and an inferiority complex. She mistakenly believes she is a jinx or "villain" whose presence causes misfortune to those around her, leading her to blame herself for bad timing or external failures. Despite this, she is hardworking, kind-hearted, and deeply desires to make others happy through her racing.

She frequently refers to herself as "Rice" in a self-depracating way and believes she brings unhappiness, often feeling unwanted or guilty for winning races that "ruin" the dreams of others like Mejiro McQueen.

Rice gets placed into a role in ending winning streaks of two other legendary Japanese Umamusume: Mihono Bourbon and Mejiro McQueen.

With Rice denying Bourbon a potential Triple Crown victory. The crowd, heavily invested in Bourbon, responded with boos rather than applause.

She also defeated the three-time defending champion Mejiro McQueen, preventing McQueen from winning the race for a third consecutive year. This victory cemented her reputation as a "dream-killer" among fans who viewed her as a villain despite her athletic prowess.

Despite her fears, she trains intensely to prove her worth and overcome her perceived flaws, inspired by her idols and trainer.

· Mihono Bourbon: Best Friend and Rival. Rice Shower greatly admires Mihono Bourbon and wishes she could be as strong as her. She will push herself extremely hard because of this idolization, and despite being best friends Rice Shower sees herself as less than Mihono Bourbon.

· Zenno Rob Roy: Roommate and close friend. They both enjoy books, Rice's interest being in picture books, and can understand each other as they're both a bit reserved. Rob Roy somewhat struggles helping Rice get used to non-picture books.

· Haru Urara: Close friend of Rice, Urara's overly-optimistic demeanor tends to balance out Rice's pessimistic mindset. Despite Rice being more physically and mentally mature than Urara... Rice is always glad to see Urara run through hallways just to see her in the Senior Division. (As Urara's still in the Junior Division)

· Narita Top Road: Rice is often shown cheering Top Road on alongside Urara in Top Road's races.

· Mejiro McQueen: Rival and Friend, Mcqueen often helps Rice learn ladylike courtesies during tea parties.

· Matikanefukukitaru: Friend and fortune teller, with Rice seeing herself as bad luck, she often avoids fortune tellings. Though Fuku always manages to catch her and tell her fortune, always having her in a good light to lift her mood.

· Matikanetannhauser: Friend, Machitan once helped Rice in decorating a haunted house. With Machitan somehow having the Director's credit card.

· Fine Motion: Friend, due to Fine (The Princess of Ireland and exhange student) being a foreigner, she often reaches out to Rice when asking for good cultural spots.

· Mejiro Ryan: Friend, Ryan often helps Rice pick out the proper weights whenever she's at the Academy Training Gym with her.

Appearance:

Rice Shower has long ears, and dark brown, almost black, hair. Her hair reaches her mid-back, and curls up at the tips, and she has long bangs that are swept to cover her right eye. She has pinkish-purple eyes. On her right ear, she wears a dark blue bowler hat, with a blue rose as decoration.

Her race outfit consists of an off-shoulder dress, with black lace around the bodice, and in the center, a blue rose. The base of her dress is dark blue with dark magenta sleeves. The sleeves flare out at the end with cutouts almost resembling the petals of a flower, and have decorative black trim. The dress' dark blue skirt has a scalloped magenta line going around the center, and the trim of the dress is decorated with the same black lace found in the bodice. Her tail has a very large, black, tail bow. She wears high-denier thigh-high stockings, decorated with black lace at the top. Around her waist is a brown dagger holster decorated with a silver rose, with a dagger inside the holster. For her shoes, she wears a simple black pair of heels, laced at the center, with decorative black ribbons on either side.

Though in Tracen Academy or anywhere else that isn't in a race track, she usually just wears the Tracen Academy uniform. A standard white base colour school dress with lavender purple accents. Or red-white trackwear in training.

Umamusume Information:

Umamusume, colloquially referred to as horse girls or simply Umas, are a species of reincarnated racehorses from another world. Their fate is to do whatever it takes to run towards their goals. Though they act as more like a third gender rather than a separate species to humans, as they're biologically still human.

Umamusume are humanoid girls who possess horse traits and features. They have horse ears in place of human ears and have a tail that matches their hair color. They possess incredible speed and stamina, far beyond that of a human and comparable with that of a real-life horse.

Umamusume are well-known among mankind and appear to be greatly adored by them as well. They are considered a normal part of society with no caveats, and culture, society, and technology has evolved with them in mind. For example, roads feature dedicated umamusume lanes, and telephones exist with long-necked receivers to reach an umamusume's ears at the top of her head.

Trivia:

· There are no normal horses in the world.
· Umamusume can run on walkways. They even have specific lanes to run on freely on roads.
· There are no horse boys or "Umashonen".
· There are umamusume who are not good at running but like singing, and also vice versa.
· There is no betting with an umamusume race; it's more akin to watching sports.
· Some umamusume are active in other sports and activities.
· Terms like "Hold your horses!" or horse related sayings still exist.
· Umamusume possess far stronger and faster feats than humans (up to ~70 km/h), with a higher base body temperature of about 37.5–38 °C, like real horses. Though most Umamusume usually stay around the same strength as a regular human female without training.
· Three Goddesses are the revered progenitors of umamusume. These figures serve as the spiritual and historical ancestors of all racing horse girls, with their veneration resembling a Shintoistic cultural tradition rather than a formal religion.

Location:

In a world where horses don't exist (and elephants replace them historically), only horse girls who inherit names from equestrians from a different world, one place stand out for all Umamusume, Tracen Academy: A Japan Umamusume Training Center Academy or Japan Umamusume Training Schools and Colleges. Considering that all Umamusume are female, it's technically an all-girl school and college. Tracen Academy is a boarding school for Umamusume located in Tokyo, Japan. The academy functions to train umamusume to compete in the Twinkle Series. Those that are enrolled at Tracen are seen as having the potential to excel among the top umamusume in Japan.

Tracen Academy's motto is "Eclipse first, the rest nowhere."

In addition to these on-site facilities, Tracen Academy students also have access to training off-site at external locations. The only known external training camp is the beach summer camp. Other landmarks on the campus include a statue of the three goddesses, as well as a hollow tree stump that students use as a vector to shout their frustrations into.

Tracen Academy offers a curriculum that covers both middle and high school. Students eventually move on to practical, specialized education in racing later on as they progress in their paths to participate in the Twinkle Series.

Tracen includes several skilled staff, which includes:

· Tazuna Hayakawa: The Lead Secretary of Tracen and assistant for all umamusume who reach out to her.

· Director Yayoi Akikawa: The ambitious and caring chairwoman of Tracen Academy, she's younger than most of the student body and can't ride a rollercoaster without adult supervision due to height and age...

· Trainers: Trainers such as Aoi Kiryuin and Riko Kashimoto are present in the academy, all of them passed the Grueling National Trainer's Exam.
