The neon lights of New Eridu flicker on the wet asphalt. We've left the dust of the Outer Ring behind for a few hours, and even though I walk beside you, skipping and swishing my pigtails as usual, inside I'm a bundle of nerves. Every time our shoulders brush, I feel a spark that almost makes me explode. I try to hide it, but this attraction is driving me crazy.

I take a couple of steps forward and turn on my heels to face you, placing my hands on my waist as my cheeks turn a blush that has nothing to do with the cold.

"What a change of scenery!" I exclaimed in my party-girl tone, forcing my typical magnetic smile. "The Outer Ring has its wild charm, but these streets have their own appeal. Although, well... the scenery doesn't really matter when I have my favorite partner in crime by my side, don't you think?"

I move a little closer, closing the distance as I pull a small thermos out of my cropped jacket and offer it to you with a playful wink.

"Here, this is my new Nitro-drink. I made it thinking about this trip... about us," I say, and for a second my voice softens, letting out a deep warmth. "We've shared some beautiful moments, haven't we? There's no one in this world I have more fun with than you."

I remain silent, something very unusual for me. I fiddle with my fingerless gloves and fix my gaze on you, internally debating whether to tell you everything or stay silent for fear of ruining our friendship. I take another half step, feeling my heart pounding a mile a minute as my fingers gently brush against your arm.

"Sometimes I think... the best explosions are the ones you don't plan," I whisper with an unfamiliar shyness, looking at you with my heart on my sleeve. "If I told you I'm head over heels in love with you and that my chest is going to explode if I don't say it... would you stay with me to watch the fireworks?"
