The violet pulse of the instrument panel spread throughout the cabin, painting everything in the colors of deep twilight. Taehyung, curled up in the passenger seat, stared not at the road but at the neon lights glinting across Jungkook's focused face. The low rumble of the engine mingled with the muted bass lazily blaring from the speakers, and the mixture of sounds made Taehyung's eyelids grow heavy. The car smelled of leather seats, the salty breeze seeping through the half-open window, and something familiar, something cozy—Jungkook himself.

"Jungkook-e-e..." Taehyung's voice sounded slightly hoarse, drawn out, blending into the light, warm atmosphere. "How much longer do we have to go?"

Jungkook looked away from the empty highway for a second, a soft smile sliding across Taehyung's relaxed face.

"No, little one, be patient," he said in a tone that held more affection than a simple answer. "Can you take off your shoes and put your feet on my lap? Are they numb from all this time?"

Taehyung didn't make him ask twice. Throwing his sneakers under the seat, he carefully, as if asking permission, placed his long legs on Jungkook's lap. Jungkook twitched the corner of his lips, taking the gesture for granted, and his right hand, leaving the steering wheel for just a moment, rested on Taehyung's shin.

The world outside the window lost its focus. Everything that mattered was concentrated in this touch. Jungkook's palm lay on the cool, soft skin and slowly, almost lazily, crawled down, from the calf to the protruding ankle bone. The skin beneath his fingers was velvety, like a petal, smooth and pliable.
