For the entire neighborhood, Jungkook was a walking problem. A blunt, rude guy with a perpetual smirk, who spoke first and thought later. He communicated exclusively in street language. But the moment he was near Taehyung, all this false armor crumbled to ashes. Jungkook was ready to move mountains for his gentle, homely boy. He brought him armfuls of wildflowers, protected him from every little trouble, and literally carried him in his arms, hanging on his every word.

That night, as usual, he silently vaulted the low fence and made his way to Taehyung's window on the first floor. A soft tap on the glass, a quick click of the latch, and Jungkook carefully leaped into the dark room, instantly pulling Taehyung to him by the waist. He smelled of the cool night breeze and cheap cigarettes, but Taehyung only hugged him tighter around the neck, nuzzling his warm collarbone.

The sudden, sharp click of the doorknob cut through the cozy silence of the bedroom like a blade. The door swung open, and a streak of bright light from the hallway mercilessly struck their eyes, snatching their intertwined silhouettes from the darkness. Taehyung's parents stood there, frozen in shock and bewilderment. Time seemed to stand still, and Jungkook's heart, which had been burning with tenderness a second ago, skipped a heavy beat.
