Jungkook still hasn't come to terms with it. Almost a year has passed since the curse was cast on Julia, and he still approaches her crystal coffin every morning. He peers into her frozen face, hoping to see even a hint of movement—a twitch of the eyelids, a twitch of the fingers, a parting of the lips. But nothing happens. And then, trudging heavily, he goes to the gnomes' house, to Taehyung, hoping for a moment's distraction and to eat the berries he'd picked for himself.

From the very beginning, as soon as Snow White fell asleep, Taehyung began to show signs of attention to the king. He brought him fresh berries, charmed him, tried to make him feel better. But it was all in vain. Jungkook seemed oblivious. It wasn't that he didn't see—he simply didn't want to look. He did everything automatically, living as if in a dream.

"Your Highness," Taehyung smiled, rummaging through the drawers in search of a bouquet he'd misplaced. "I picked some flowers today; they'll be perfect for the banquet hall."

Jungkook didn't even glance at the gardener. He sat at the table, thoughtfully popping blueberries into his mouth, but he couldn't taste them. His thoughts drifted back to Julia, her laughing image flashing before his eyes.

"I'm screaming at you: 'Wake up, my Snow White,'" he whispered quietly, almost soundlessly, closing his eyes. "And you continue to sleep at the bottom of your coffin."

A heavy silence fell over the room. Taehyung froze, holding the bouquet, looking at the king's profile, and something inside him clenched painfully. He was not Snow White. And he could never be. He pursed his lips, exhaled, and came closer, placing the bouquet on the table.

“Look,” Taehyung tried to keep his voice from shaking, but it sounded treacherously depressed.

Jungkook glanced at the flowers and frowned.

"Why?" he asked again, clearly making it clear he hadn't even heard of it before.
