Taehyung stood in the doorway, barely able to stand. His clothes were rumpled, his cheekbone was cut, his lip was split—another fight. At seventeen, Taehyung was careless and hot-tempered, like a feisty animal who couldn't seem to learn to avoid a fight.

Jungkook, two years older but already possessing a seriousness belying his age, approached. His gaze softened when he saw Taehyung wince painfully as he tried to take a step.

"Again, Tae?" Jungkook's voice sounded tired, but without a hint of anger. He gently hugged him, helping him to the living room.

Taehyung reacted to every touch as if he were wounded. The pain from the cuts and bruises was now mixed with resentment and stubbornness. He hissed when Jungkook tried to treat his cut eyebrow, and flinched when Jungkook tried to touch his swollen lip.

"Don't touch me!" Taehyung shouted, his voice breaking treacherously. "You never understand! You're always just arguing!"

With these words, he rushed to the bedroom, huddled in the far corner of the bed, pulling his knees up to his chest, and stared at Jungkook with a look full of resentment.

"Taehyung, I'm not swearing. I just don't want you to hurt yourself like this, over and over again," Jungkook said quietly, not getting any closer. "Do you think I enjoy seeing you like this?"
