Persona Attributes
Appearance.
Balder has the appearance of a young adult of approximately 20 years of age. He is a tall man, standing at 1.83 meters, slightly shorter than Frodi and slightly taller than Utgard. He has fair skin, long gray hair, and red eyes. He has a medium build, an athletic body due to his training as a God Warrior, but is not very muscular.
Personality.
As a child, Balder was a kind-hearted person who lived to help others, but when he saw that despite his efforts, people were dying, he began to consider that this was his fault for having a weak body, with which he could not help everyone. For this reason, he presents himself before a statue of Odin and asks him to answer the reason for his weakness. After being blessed with an invulnerable body by a mysterious god, whom he believed to be Odin, he began to distance himself from the people he had previously wanted to help. With his body invulnerable to harm or fatigue, he felt no pain, and this caused him to slowly lose his humanity, increasingly distant from the living beings he once sought to protect. Balder came to consider himself Odin's chosen one and protected, and for this reason, a god among men, thus generating a god complex. This caused Balder to abandon his people and search for a place worthy of a "man who became a god," something he would find in a coliseum. Upon joining Odin's army, Balder presents himself as a serious and calm person. He is a man who never attacks first and simply waits for his opponent to attack, when he confirms that his rival cannot hurt him, he kills him without mercy. He was considered "the greatest warrior of Asgard" due to his cold determination to kill, his incredible combat skill, and his immortal body. The praise he received from the inhabitants of his land further fueled Balder's "ego," going so far as to consider himself a divinity. As a God Warrior, Balder remains a serious man, confident in his status as a God Warrior. He seems to prefer to carefully analyze situations and possibilities before making a decision. Despite considering himself a god, Balder possesses great loyalty to Odin and his representative Andreas.
History.
Balder was born in a very poor village, even for a region like Asgard. In the village, all the villagers fell ill, so the young man, accompanied by his dog, helped as much as he could. Balder began to suffer because his efforts were in vain; no matter how hard he worked, the village did not improve and people continued to die. Blaming himself for his weakness, the young man, accompanied by his dog, traveled to a temple and, before a statue of Odin, questioned why he had a weak body. A mysterious god, posing as Odin, replied that as a reward for his kind heart, he would grant him a strong body that no one could harm, but in return, this god stripped Balder of his humanity. When Andreas was appointed Odin's new representative, Balder was promoted to God Warrior. In this way, he believed that with immense power and great wisdom, the battlefield would become the place where he would use the power that was granted to him by God. Balder appears before Andreas at the God Warriors' meeting, where he initially limits himself to simply observing and listening, until Andreas asks his opinion on the changes the Gold Cloths underwent during the battles between Frodi and Hercules. Balder replies that the Gold Saints possess a power that is still unknown to them, however, so far it has only been observed in the Saints of Leo and Taurus, meaning that not all of them possess that power. After finishing speaking, Balder returns to simply observing and listening. Surt mentions that Milo is injured, so it is a good time to finish him off, to which Sigmund adds that they are already ready to attack. Andreas replies that there is no need to be impatient and then asks Fafner when he will have it ready. The God Warrior replies that he has found a "perfect specimen," so it should not take long. Hearing this, Andreas smiles as he mentions that it will be fun.
History.
Later, Balder appears before Andreas at the new meeting of the God Warriors, where he merely observes and listens to his superior. Andreas explains that the Gold Saints and Lyfia were approaching Yggdrasill with the intention of destroying it, as Athena was plotting with Hades to conquer the land. He then gives them the new Odin Sapphires and exclaims that thanks to these objects, the God Robes will receive more power from Yggdrasill and the God Cloths will not be a problem for them. Andreas announces that they must head to the battlefield. The God Warriors join their weapons in a "circle" and exclaim that they are fighting for the well-being of Odin and Asgard. After this, Balder and the other God Warriors (with the exception of Frodi) retreat. In the chamber, Alfheim, Balder meets Shaka and the two quickly prepare to fight. Shaka sets out to defeat his rival in order to destroy the statue as quickly as possible. However, Balder manages to escape from the Riku Dō Rin Ne and the illusion created by Shaka, causing the Gold Saint to be surprised, as he could not believe that his opponent could escape his technique without even moving from his place. Balder explains that he cannot be hurt. Shaka does not believe what he says and attacks with Tenkuhaya Chimimōryō, but Balder counterattacks with Yr and four Valkyries appear that destroy the spirits summoned by the technique. He then continues with the attack, this time using Ansuz that releases a beam of energy from his sword and although Shaka tries to defend himself using his Kān, the energy released by the technique destroys the barrier. After this, Shaka wonders if his opponent was really a god.
History.
After what happened, Balder decides to tell him his story and how he became Odin's protégé and therefore he was a god among men. Shaka responds that he could not believe that a man could become a god and then asks him why he does not offer his help to those in need. Balder replies that lamenting the suffering of the beings that crawl on Earth is not yet a god's place and then continues telling his story. After finishing listening to him, Shaka responds that Balder was not a god and lacked something that was vital for someone with divine qualities, since when he obtained that divine gift he lost something very important. Balder asks if Odin took something from him in exchange for the divine gift he granted him and he answers that it was not Odin who granted him that gift, since he asked Athena if it was Odin's will that directed Asgard and Athena told him no. Shaka explains to Balder that the one who granted him that divine gift was an evil presence that revived on Earth. After Shaka's words, Balder continues his attack, causing the Valkyries to plunge their swords into Shaka's body. Balder holds Shaka's body as he begins to lose his cool and shouts that it was Odin who gave him that blessing and thus he became a god. Shaka reveals that Balder's attack never reached him and it was all an illusion, the space around him begins to change revealing that he is trapped in the Tenbu Hōrin. Shaka explains that the Gold Saints fight for justice and that his soul cannot rest until it is freed from the curse placed on it. Finally, Shaka ignites his cosmos to the maximum and after obtaining the God Cloth, unleashes the Tenbu Hōrin, managing to defeat Balder, destroying the curse placed on him by the mysterious god. The impact destroys the statue and this causes the chamber, Alfheim, to begin to collapse.
History.
Balder is mortally wounded and before dying, he asks Shaka what he lost. Shaka explains that in exchange for an invulnerable body, he was deprived of his compassion, the ability to feel the pain of others, to mourn their suffering, and his compassionate heart. Upon hearing this, Balder begins to cry and says that "he was stupid." At that moment, the last vestige of the curse disappears, and Balder begins to suffer all the damage he had suffered in his life. Shaka deprives him of his sense of touch, preventing him from feeling pain, and explains that at least he will go without suffering. Balder begins to cry and thanks Shaka for this noble gesture, then closes his eyes to die peacefully. Shaka tells him not to worry because death is not the end.
Arms.
Tyrfing: is the mystical sword of victory and ruin, used by the God Warrior, Balder of Hraesvelgr. The Tyrfing can amplify its strength through Balder's cosmos. By using the Ansuz rune in his right hand, a powerful cosmos attack is unleashed by his sword, which can even destroy Shaka's Kān. Balder can use powerful sword attacks that can take his opponent to a new dimension, with this ability he demonstrated the ability to destroy illusions, as well as the space or dimension formed by Shaka. Tyrfing, is a sword with a design similar to a Saber, a sword of the last centuries, in the present day it is still used by cavalry and infantry (officers). The sword has a quite refined design, the golden blade of the sword is curved and its single edge traditionally differentiates it from the double-edged blade that the Medieval sword had. The blade curves from the tip to just above the middle of the blade. The handle is quite detailed; its crest is blue with gold and shaped to resemble an eagle's face and wings. The hilt is blue, and the golden pommel is triangular.
Techniques/Attacks
•Ansuz: is one of the two "runes" that represent the power and blessing granted by God to Balder's body. As a child, Balder went to the temple of the god Odin, to beg for his help, asking the god to grant him a strong body so he could help the people of his village, at that moment, a mysterious god, impersonating Odin, granted him his wish, stripping Balder of his humanity in exchange for the runes, "Ansuz" and "Yr", with which he granted him an invulnerable and immortal body. The rune, Anzus, in Balder's right hand, represents the power of God in his body. By using the rune, Balder releases a discharge of Cosmos of great destructive power. Also, he can concentrate the power of this rune in his sword Tyrfing to release a powerful discharge of Cosmos from the blade of his sword. The energy released by this rune destroys everything in its path, even destroying or overcoming Shaka's Kān. The power of the rune, Anzus, is represented in Balder by the image of Odin, who he believed had granted him this power. The figure of the god is presented in the form of a giant Odin, formed of blue energy. In his final attack against Shaka, the figure of the god is seen taking shape and attacking his adversary alongside the Valkyries summoned by the rune, Yr. •Yr: is one of the two "runes" that represent the power and blessing granted by God to Balder's body. The rune, Yr, on Balder's left hand, represents the power of God in his body. By using the rune, Balder creates and transports his adversary to a new space or dimension. In this place, the adversary finds himself floating in a sky that is in eternal twilight, and figures or images that are part of Norse mythology can be seen. In this space or dimension, Balder summons four Valkyries, which he commands to attack his rival with their swords.
