Jan is a young man with fair skin and an athletic build due to the training he underwent to become a Saint. His age is unknown, although his appearance suggests he could be around 20. His long hair is black and combed back, leaving only a fringe on his forehead. His face is thin with a triangular chin, and his eyes are dark gray.

It is known that he is a Legendary Saint who was once loyal to Athena, but after being forgotten in history, he generated resentment towards the Saints and Athena, so he gave his loyalty to Eris in exchange for a new life. Jan is basically a warrior who fully trusts his abilities and takes pride in the resistance of the shield that his Cloth possesses, even pretending to compare its resistance to the shield of the Dragon Cloth. He is a warrior who has no honor when it comes to fighting, since he first attacks and then presents himself to his opponent, even going so far as to say that his blow is a greeting.

Jan is a former Silver Saint who died in an ancient war for which there is no record. The only thing known is that during the 20th century, he decided to serve the goddess Eris in exchange for a new life. The Repulse comet crosses the skies of planet Earth and from it, the golden apple where the soul of the goddess Eris was imprisoned is detached. Thus, the soul of the evil goddess calls a young woman to possess her body and begin her resurrection. After this, the goddess resurrects a group of five Saints who perished in ancient battles to serve as her personal army. The next morning, Eris, in Erii's body, surprises Saori as she is riding a horse and kidnaps her. Saori wakes up in the Temple of Eris trapped in a stone cross. There Erii appears, but upon closer examination, Saori realizes that this person is not Erii, but Eris. Saori tells her that she is not afraid of her, since she has her Saints who will always protect her, to which Eris responds with a laugh and with her staff sends a message to the Bronze Saints to come and rescue her. Eris is not afraid, since she has the protection of the Ghost Saints, ancient Saints who have been brought back to life by the power of the goddess. After this, Eris approaches Saori and places the golden apple on her chest so that it slowly absorbs her vital energy and can fully revive and sends the Ghost Saints to defeat Athena's Saints.

During the invasion of Eris Temple, each of the Bronze Saints goes their own way. In a ruined area with a small waterfall, Shiryū finds himself walking and is greeted with a kick from the sky by Jan, who tells him that it is his way of greeting and that he cannot die yet, not until he tests the strength of his fists and shield. Shiryū stands up and attacks with his fist, which shatters upon impact with the shield Jan was carrying on his left arm. After this, Jan jumps and attacks with his Bone Crash Screw, to which Shiryū reacts and tries to protect himself with his shield, but this is useless, as the kick shatters the shield. Taking advantage of the fact that his opponent is injured by the impact received, Jan continues punching until he throws him into a pond. However, despite the blows and injuries received, Shiryū is not dead yet and while floating in the pond he decides to use his most powerful technique, although this may cost him his life due to the injuries he has on his body. Shiryū gets up and completely removes his Cloth to concentrate his cosmos, seeing this Jan prepares to attack him, but it is too late and Shiryū attacks with Rozan Shō Ryū Ha. Immediately after, Shiryū's fist pierces Jan's shield and chest, who before dying from the wound received can only watch in disbelief as his opponent's broken fist managed to destroy his shield.

The Cloth of Scutum features a powerful shield, which is characterized as the most powerful defense among the Silver Cloths, similar to the Dragon Shield, which is characterized as the most powerful defense among the Bronze Cloths. Its shield, a special artifact, we can see that it is a red shield with a very particular design, probably based on the fact that the Scutum constellation is formed by three stars arranged in a straight line.
