Persona Attributes
Appearance
Shaina is a woman of athletic build; her hair is light green, and like all female knights, she always keeps her face hidden under a mask. Contrary to what her attitude might suggest, her face is beautiful, soft, and gentle. Her attire consists of a brown leotard, a gray mesh on her right arm, green tights, pink leg warmers, and yellow high-heeled shoes. Unlike other silver armors, hers covers fewer areas of the body, consisting only of a breastplate, two knee pads, a single bracelet for the left forearm that runs from the fingers to the elbow, and she uses a mask attached parallel to her head, going from ear to ear; on top is carved the head of a cobra, slightly bent as if crawling forward. In the manga, her armor has marked differences: her diadem/crown consists of a series of intertwined circles composed of the bodies of two snakes, and she also has protection in the pelvic area. Also, her leotard is green and she doesn't wear legwarmers or high heels but rather black boots.
Personality.
Shaina is a temperamental woman, with a strong character and sometimes insolent, her aggressiveness in combat is also reflected in her behavior; her comrades in arms at the Sanctuary treat Shaina with absolute respect. As a teacher, Shaina can be as strict as Marin, of whom she initially felt particular envy of her student's progress, something that Shaina did not pay particular attention to when training her pupil (Shaina trained Cassios in the use of his physical strength but did not teach him the fundamentals of the cosmos, something necessary to become a Saint). After Seiya saw his face for the first time, he began to develop an obsession with the Saint of Pegasus that bordered on rivalry, but later that obsession with killing Seiya turned into love (the anime showed a scene in which it was hinted that it was not the first time Seiya saw Shaina without her mask). Something that is reinforced when she is seriously wounded by Aiolia and when she subsequently loses her student Cassios, his attitude changes. Now aware that Saori Kido is the reincarnation of the Goddess Athena, Shaina becomes a warrior loyal to her goddess.
History.
Shaina was Cassios' teacher. Before her student's fight against Seiya, she mentions a rumor that he tried to run away (implying that he should be punished for desertion). This accusation is denied by Marin, which enrages Shaina, who shouts that an Oriental shouldn't and doesn't have the right to wear a cloth. At this, Aiolia appears and defends Seiya, saying that there is nothing preventing an Oriental from becoming a Saint. During the fight, she is surprised to see Seiya cut off one of his apprentice's ears. She is also annoyed by the soldiers' comments in favor of Seiya, demonstrating once again her annoyance at the idea of a Japanese man wearing armor. At night, she and a group of soldiers chase Seiya because she doesn't consent to the idea of a Japanese man taking the cloth outside of Greece. She meets up with Seiya and Marin and attacks the new Bronze Saint, demonstrating her superior speed and throwing him off a cliff. When she goes to get the Cloth, she is surprised by an attack from Seiya that breaks the sound barrier; seeing him carrying the Cloth, she fights him again, defeating him again because he had not become one with the Cloth. After this, she grabs her opponent and asks him why he doesn't fight seriously, to which Seiya replies that it is because she was a woman, leaving Shaina somewhat surprised. Being about to give him the final blow, he is interrupted by the soldiers who begin to attack Seiya instead of her. It is at that moment, that the Bronze Saint decides to go seriously (now being fighting against men) so he defeats all the soldiers and breaks Shaina's mask on the spot. This leaves her astonished and thinking that if Seiya could break her mask with air pressure, being only a novice, it is possible that he will become a fearsome Saint.
History.
When Seiya retreats with Marin, Shaina warns him that next time she will be wearing her cloth and that she wants him to fight seriously.
Shaina reappears when she is sent by the Sanctuary, along with Algol, Dante, Capella and Jamian, to Japan to destroy the Graad Coliseum and kill the rebels who participated in it. She goes after the Bronze Saints, after Misty's group fails, but she only watches from a distance as Seiya reveals to Shiryū, Shun and Hyōga the truth that Ikki had told him: that all the orphans chosen by the Graad Foundation were children of Mitsumasa Kido. She appears before Seiya, after he broke his arm while rescuing Saori. The Silver Saint tells him that he only has three options: defeat her, defeat Jamian or jump into the void. When the Bronze Saint chooses to jump, she only says that he is always taking risks and that at night, when he jumps like that, he looks like a comet. Later, Shaina feels from the top of the cliff how Saori ignites her cosmos to defend Seiya from Jamian, wondering if down there could be someone greater than a Saint. After this, Algol asks her why she's taking so long and tells her that the Pope has ordered her to return to the Sanctuary.
History.
After the defeat of her companions, Shaina decides to attack Seiya in the hospital, revealing that she never followed the orders to return to the Sanctuary. There, she reveals to Seiya the reason why she pursues him so much: the law of masks, which because he has seen her face he only has two options, one of them being to kill him. Unable to reveal the second option, due to shame, she rushes to attack Seiya. At that moment, she is interrupted by the Cloth of Sagittarius who reveals her true form. After this, they both feel a great power outside the hospital and when they look in they discover that it is the Gold Saint, Aiolia of Leo. Shaina is surprised to see him and wonders what the patriarch's intentions are by wanting so hard to eliminate the Bronze Saints. Immediately, she orders Seiya to escape, warning him that the Gold Saints are stronger than the Black Saints and the Silver Saints. Instantly, they are dragged out by Aiolia's power, whom she tries to convince to entrust her with the defeat of Seiya. Aiolia, having warned her that she would be hurt, knocks her out with a light-speed attack with just one finger. During the argument between Aiolia and Seiya, she protects the latter with her body from the deadly attack of the Gold Saint, ending up seriously injured. On the verge of falling unconscious, she reveals the second condition of the law of masks: to fall in love with whoever has seen her without the mask, to which she asks Seiya to forgive her for having fallen in love with him. After Seiya returns Aiolia's attack thanks to the help of Aiolos' spirit in the Cloth of Sagittarius, the Saint of Leo decides to retreat and take Shaina to the Sanctuary to heal her wounds.
History.
Shaina has a very important mission, to take the Golden Armor of Libra, on Dohko's orders, to the Underwater Sanctuary, so that the Bronze Saints could destroy the enormous Pillars that held up the seven seas. She passes that mission on to Kiki, while she prepares to fight against Thetis, whom she ends up defeating without major problems. Shaina heads to the Temple of Poseidon, since she believed that all the other knights had been defeated and she was the only one standing during the war, she arrives in front of Poseidon himself. Shaina attacks him but her power is nothing compared to that of a God and Poseidon stops her with just a look, he attacks him a second time with his Thunder Claws, but Poseidon counterattacks with a psychic power, and Shaina is defeated without touching Poseidon. Finally, she protects Seiya from the Golden Arrow of Sagittarius, which was returned by the God, when the Pegasus tried to hit him with it. A year later, she is in charge of guarding the Sanctuary, having Jabu, Nachi, and Ichi under her command. She then gives the order to burn the Graveyard of the Saints, to prevent them from being revived by Hades and attacking the Sanctuary itself. Later, she sees an eclipse occur, which Marin tells her is caused by the will of Hades, and Kiki confirms that the eclipse can be seen all over the world. Shortly after, they see the Gold armors of the dead Gold Saints go to Hell to help the knights fighting there. Later, Marin and Kiki bring Seika, Seiya's missing sister, to the Sanctuary, so that when Seiya returns, he can be reunited with her. Finally, she is injured after protecting Seika, Seiya's sister, with her body when Thanatos, the God of Death, tried to kill her in order to continue tormenting Pegasus.
Techniques/Attacks
•Thunder Claw: This is Shaina of Ophiuchus's most well-known technique. She raises her arm (like a cobra raising its head), setting her cosmos ablaze, and unleashing an attack with her outstretched hand and fingers. This attack simultaneously unleashes sharp claw strikes, producing wounds and lightning bolts with 10,000-volt electric charges generated by her cosmos, piercing her opponent's body like stings, shattering everything in their path. •Phantom Gen Claw: With her fist, Shaina unleashes all the energy she has previously accumulated through her Cosmos. In this way, through a hypnotic beam, the released energy takes the form of an illusion, which can be immaterial or solid, at her whim. •Claw Rush: This is a technique used by Shaina of Ophiuchus. She charges at the opponent, lifts them up, and then drops them like a catapult. •Lightning Rampage: Shaina concentrates her cosmos in her hands and then repeatedly hits her enemy until she reaches a limit of 11 hits, causing great damage. Finally, she throws her enemy into the air and then jumps after him and finishes him off with a twelfth hit, damaging her opponent and his armor. •Snake Rampage: Shaina of Ophiuchus raises her left arm and concentrates her cosmos in her left hand to subsequently repeatedly hit the enemy until reaching nine hits causing great damage, finally throwing her enemy into the air.
