Appearance.
Shun is a young man with a fragile and thin appearance, and along with Seiya, he is the youngest of the group and the shortest in stature. Since his introduction, it has been said that he is a quite attractive young man, as the girls who were in the coliseum of the Galactic Tournament clamored for him. In the series, his appearance has never been mentioned again, except for the strange comment by Algol of Perseus when he confronted him, calling him "pretty boy", but it is evident that his features are inspired by his guardian constellation, Andromeda, a feminine constellation. His hair is green, his eyes are a dark turquoise. When he is under the possession of Hades, his hair turns black and his eyes change to a lighter hue. When he is not wearing his armor, he wears a green T-shirt and white overall-style pants with suspenders and black shoes. During his training he has been seen wearing an outfit similar to Seiya's when he was training in Greece, only Shun has a suit with blue tones and darker blue shoulder protectors, with classic Greek sandals of the same color as the protectors.
Personality.
He has a peaceful personality and hates fighting, so much so that he always gets hurt for fear of hurting his enemies and would sacrifice his life to save others. He is the kindest and most noble Saint of all, with a big heart: in fact, Shun is the person with the purest heart on Earth. He always prefers not to fight because he doesn't want to harm anyone and prefers to only defend himself if possible. Shun is always willing to die for others as the figure of his constellation. Being the person with the purest heart on Earth (at his time), Shun is the person destined to be the host body of the god of the underworld Hades. A few days after he was born, Pandora went to search for him so that he could merge with the soul of Hades that had been born from his mother's womb, and become Hades in body and soul, but due to Ikki's dedication and due to his pure cosmos, Pandora was unable to take the baby. In the end, Shun ended up wearing a pendant with the inscription "Yours Ever," indicating that Shun's body would always belong to the god of the underworld. In fact, Hades's soul instinctively took on Shun's appearance because it was the body he was meant to have at that time. Years later, Shun would realize that this medallion was the memento his mother had left him when she died. He was later selected to be part of the group of children the Foundation would send to different training sites to each obtain a Bronze Armor and the rank of Saint. In the lottery held to select a training site, Shun unfortunately had to go to Queen Death Island. Shun accepted his fate even though everyone knew he couldn't survive there because he was too weak. His brother Ikki volunteered to go in his place. Finally, Shun went to Andromeda Island to complete his Saint training.
History.
Shun was trained on Andromeda Island, having as his teacher the Silver Saint Daidalos of Cepheus. There he met June, who would later become the Female Saint of Chameleon, and with whom he formed a close friendship. Andromeda Island was a place with extreme temperatures both day and night. Shun didn't feel bad about it because he knew that Ikki must be in similar or worse conditions. However, there are many more aspiring saints, notably Reda and Spica, with whom he fights to obtain the Andromeda Armor. The training is with chains and they practice hand-to-hand combat. After six years of hard training, Shun won the right to perform "the challenge", in which he must be tied with the chains of the Andromeda Armor in a similar way to how the mythological Andromeda was. Finally, Shun successfully manages to pass the test, obtaining the Andromeda Cloth as proof that he is now a knight. Later, June obtained the Chameleon Cloth. Shun participates in the Galactic Tournament and in his first (and only) battle, he faces Jabu. Shun easily dominates his opponent with the help of the offensive and defensive power of the spectacular Andromeda Chain. During this battle, his brother Ikki, the Phoenix Saint, appears, whom he hasn't seen for six years. However, Ikki has changed and now considers everything related to the Graude Foundation, including the orphans who became Saints, to be enemies. In the confrontation with the Black Saints led by Ikki, the first Black Saint he faces is the Black Swan, who attacks him while he was visiting his brother's training ground when they were children.
History.
During his journey through the golden armor, he had to face his double, Black Andromeda. She attacked him just as Shun, using his chains, was helping Seiya out of the deep abyss into which he had fallen due to the Black Meteors. So that Shun could defend himself, Seiya cut the chain that held him and fell into the abyss. Shun, enraged, attacked the Black Saint using his power to the maximum, but was defeated but killed by Asterion. Of the second group of Silver Saints sent to assassinate the Bronze Saints, he had to face Dante of Cerberus, who had already been beaten by Ikki. Despite Dante considering Shun not strong enough for him, Shun completely defeated him with the powerful attack of his chains. But after defeating Dante, he was turned to stone by Algol of Perseus, like Hyoga, and they were eventually saved by Shiryū, who blinded himself to defeat Algol. He would also fight with Reda and Spica, his former companions on Andromeda Island. He managed to defeat both of them without using his Cloth, only with pieces of chains from these Saints, and at the same time he showed June that he was capable of fighting against the Gold Saints. His Cloth is repaired by Mu of Aries, like the others. While this is happening, he is instructed by him about the existence of the Seventh Sense. Shun is shot down by Aldebaran of Taurus like everyone else, except Seiya, and misses the beginning of the fight. He then joins the rest of the Bronze Saints to fight against Aldebaran and in a combined attack with Hyoga and Shiryū, they manage to freeze the Gold Saint's arms, so they manage to advance to the house of Gemini.
History.
Shun and the others enter the House of Gemini together. However, upon leaving, they notice they are back at the entrance, but this time there are two Houses of Gemini. He enters with Hyōga in the house on the left. Shun tries to save Hyōga, who, unconscious, falls into the Other Dimension of the Gemini Saga. On the verge of falling into the other dimension himself, his seventh sense awakens and attacks the Patriarch in his chambers. When the illusion fades, he continues on to the next house. This time Shun enters with the others and they encounter the Gold Saint of Virgo, Shaka. He easily defeats everyone until Ikki arrives. After being unconscious, Shun awakens and tries to help Ikki, but Ikki refuses, claiming that he will defeat Shaka. Although Ikki succeeds, he dies in the battle and leaves Shun with one last message: to fight to the end. He arrives with Shiryū and Seiya only to find Hyōga, on the verge of death and trapped in the Ice Coffin of Aquarius Camus. Thanks to the Libra Armor and Shiryū, Hyōga is freed and Shun stays behind to help Hyōga recover from Camus's powerful frozen air. Using his cosmos, he manages to return heat to Hyōga's body even at the cost of his own life, thus saving the life of the Swan Saint. Along with the other Bronze Saints, in the anime he enters the traps of the House of Sagittarius, he sacrifices himself in the fifth and last of the traps, it is a precipice from which one must jump to the other shore where the Sagittarius Armor is located. But in the end he appeared again in the Chamber of Armor to receive Aiolos' message.
History.
Shun's final battle in the Twelve Houses (not counting the battle against Saga). Shun faces Aphrodite of Pisces, whom he recognizes as the man who, along with Milo of Scorpio (in the anime), murdered his master. Aphrodite puts Shun in a difficult position with her attack of Devilish Royal Roses and Piranha Roses. However, on the verge of death, Shun uses his maximum power (said to be the most powerful and destructive attack of all the Bronze Saints) the Nebular Strom and defeats Aphrodite, but is also mortally wounded by the Bloody Rose. It is worth noting that he was the only Bronze Saint to kill a Gold Saint without committing suicide (Shiryū against Shura, Ikki against Shaka) or receiving any outside help (Shiryū against Deathmask, Hyōga against Camus). A few months later, the five Saints are recovering in the hospital from their combat wounds. Shun is the first to wake up and sees the news that the earth was flooded and that Saori was kidnapped by Poseidon's forces. Seiya and Shun are the first to descend to the marine world with the mission of rescuing Saori Kido from the hands of Poseidon. There they meet the siren Thetis of Sirena and the marine general Sea Dragon; although they don't really know who he is. Then they both head to the pillars. The first Marine General they meet is Io of Scylla, who guards the Pillar of the South Pacific Ocean and uses her seven beasts to defeat Shun.
History.
Once he has seen all of Scylla's techniques, he defeats him using a different type of attack and defense with his chains to defeat each beast. However, due to his inability to hurt people, Shun does not kill Scylla but chains him and tries to destroy the pillar. Unfortunately, he fails as he does not have enough power to do so; General Scylla, taking advantage of this situation, breaks free and attacks Shun, momentarily defeating him. However, Shun uses his chains to trap Scylla again, who this time can no longer escape, as the chains and Andromeda armor turn golden. Scylla dies trying to protect the pillar when Shun uses one of Libra's weapons to bring down the Pillar. On the Pillar of the Southern Ocean, Shun finds Hyoga and Seiya lying on the ground, not understanding why they are like that. Then Shun's chain senses the presence of an enemy behind him. Turning around he sees that it is Kasa of Lyumnades transformed into Ikki of Phoenix. He has a battle in which he could have easily triumphed but he lets himself be carried away by sentimentality, so Kasa almost defeats Shun but the real Ikki appears to save his brother and the other Saints by finishing off the Marine General. Upon arriving at the South Atlantic Ocean Pillar, Shun finds Sorrento of Sirena and her terrible flute music, against which Shun's Andromeda Chain is powerless. With no other option, Shun uses his Nebular Strom to free himself from Sorrento and thus be able to destroy the North Atlantic Pillar. At the Temple of Poseidon he helps Seiya face Poseidon, the god of the seas, with the Golden Sagittarius Arrow, however as he does not obtain the favor of wearing a Gold Cloth he does not actively participate in the final fight.
History.
Upon reaching the Great Main Support he uses his Cosmo to activate his Andromeda Cloth, reaching the Seventh Sense and turning his Cloth into gold to support the Bronze Saints with Gold Cloths to use the power of their attacks to send Seiya with the Cloth of Sagittarius to destroy the Great Main Support and destroy it, managing to do so successfully, and being able to help Seiya rescue Saori. Later when Saori / Athena faces Poseidon and uses the Vessel of Athena, all the Bronze Saints except Seiya use their Cosmo to help the goddess lock up Poseidon, separating him from Julian Solo and managing to win the battle. A year later Shun is in the Kido Mansion taking care of the place when he feels some evil presences in the sanctuary, when he is on his way to the Sanctuary he is attacked by Sirius of Canis Major, Dio of Musca and Algethi of Hercules. These had been resurrected by Hades in exchange for their loyalty, Shun manages to defeat them using his Nebular Chain. Later he would use that same attack so that, along with Seiya, Shiryū and Hyōga, the fused Athena's Exclamation would rise. Like the other Bronze Saints, he arrives at the Statue of Athena, when she had already taken her own life. Shion explains to them the reason for this death and with the blood of the goddess restores the Bronze armor. Then, they go to Hades Castle to help the Gold Saints Mū, Milo and Aiolia. In Hades Castle, Shun fights along with the other Bronze Saints against one of the three judges of hell Radamanthys of Wyvern. He defeats them all without difficulty, and is only beaten with Seiya who enters the underworld with him, while the others face the specters Gordon of Minotaur, Queen of Alraune, Valentine of Harpy and Sylphid of Basilisk. Shun tries to enter the Underworld with the remaining Bronze Saints as well, but Shiryu's master, Dōhko, tells them that they must awaken the Eighth Sense.
History.
Shun enters Hell by elevating his cosmos to the maximum, and meets Seiya. The two cross the gate of Hell, and meet the specter Charon of Acheron, who is the ferryman to cross the Acheron River. Shun offers Charon a medallion (given by his mother, according to Ikki) in exchange for helping them cross the river. Charon accepts, however, in the middle of the river he throws Seiya from the boat, who is then saved by Shun. Charon continues with the journey, but tries to throw Seiya out again. Surprisingly, he stops attacking the Saints when he looks at Shun's eyes because he claims they are the purest he has ever seen in his life. In the First Prison, he is confronted by Lune of Balrog, who judges him with her whip. Shun begins to doubt the motives that led him to hurt so many people throughout his life. He is saved by the illusion that Kanon used on Lune. In the Second Prison, he and Seiya find Pharaoh of Sphinx who along with Cerberus tries to stop them, but at that moment Orphee of Lyra appears and with his Stringer Nocturne leaves them unconscious, after getting up they meet Eurydice, who is the reason why Orpheus is in Hell. The saints are surprised because Eurydice is a stone statue; she begs them to make Orpheus return to Earth, because he is still alive and has a life ahead of him. Orpheus later discovers that it was because of Pharaoh and Pandora that Eurydice turned to stone. Because of this, Orpheus confronts Pharaoh, where he is defeated and dies. After this, Orpheus says goodbye to Eurydice and sets out to take Shun and Seiya to Giudecca.
History.
In Giudecca, Orpheus lulls all the judges of Hell and Pandora to sleep with his lyre. He prepares to attack Hades, who sits on his throne behind a veil. However, Orpheus is very surprised to see that Hades looks very similar to Shun. Anyway, Orpheus attacks Hades and manages to kill him; but then he realizes that Hades' body was not there (it was an illusion). Barely realizing, Radamanthys of Wyvern mortally attacks him. Orpheus, dying, refuses to wake the other judges and Pandora. Radamanthys attacks him, but Orpheus holds Radamanthys and begs Seiya to attack him, even at the cost of his own life. Seiya uses his meteors and Orpheus dies. However, Radamanthys was still alive, and in revenge he tries to attack, but Shun, speaking with the voice of Hades, tells him to stop. Radamanthys believes that Shun is faking the voice, so he decides to attack him, but he again with his voice and with another stronger aspect rebukes him again. The specter soon realizes that Shun is the body chosen to be the reincarnation of Hades. Seiya is attacked and sent to one of the hells: the Cocytos. Then he is attended to by Pandora, who sends the judges to their posts. Shun-Hades, orders Pandora to bring Ikki. The phoenix, who already knew about the possession, desperately tries to get Hades out of Shun's body by hitting him. However, Shun-Hades reacts by attacking him. Ikki repeatedly gets up after Shun-Hades' attacks. However, when Hades tries to finish Ikki off, he realizes that his body does not respond and that he was trying to kill him, then Ikki sees Shun's soul appear from behind his body saying that he allowed himself to be possessed so they could kill Hades. Shun incites Ikki to kill Hades, but he can't because attacking would also kill his brother. Ikki is defeated and sent, like Seiya, to the Cocytos.
History.
After Shun-Hades receives Athena and Shaka in Giudecca. Saori offers her life in exchange for stopping the Great Eclipse that would align not only the moon with the sun but the rest of the planets in the solar system. Hades accepts and takes a spear to kill Athena. However, Athena stops the spear with her hands, saying that before killing her, he should stop the Great Eclipse. The blood emanating from Saori's hand accidentally reaches Shun-Hades' body, and he is exorcised by the contact. Shun falls, and Hades' soul kidnaps Saori and takes her to the Elysian Fields, but not before summoning the dreaded Eclipse. Along with the other Bronze Saints, he has a brief confrontation with Minos of Griffin. After the sacrifice of the 12 Golden Saints to break the Wailing Wall (the wall that separates the underworld from the Elysian Fields), Shun heads with the other Saints to the Elysian Fields. Upon encountering his first enemy, the minor god of death, Thanatos, Shun dons the Cloth of Virgo, albeit for a very short time, as it is quickly destroyed by the god. Then, Seiya elevates his cosmos to the maximum and, thanks to the blood of Athena, revives his armor, which is reborn as the divine armor of Pegasus, or Kamui armor (clothing worn by the ancient gods of Olympus). After defeating Thanatos, he arrives to battle his twin brother, the minor god of sleep, Hypnos. Once Seiya has gone to the temple in the Elysium to help Athena, with no one who can face Hypnos, Ikki hits Hypnos to prevent him from stopping Seiya, and just before the god of sleep attacks Ikki, Shun obtains his divine armor and stops him with his reborn chains.
History.
After convincing Ikki to go ahead and help Seiya, Shun tries to defeat Hypnos, however, the God of Sleep, respecting his rival more than his brother, manages to stop Shun's chains, stating that he was right to warn his brother that the Bronze Saints were a threat, determined to stop that fight before it got out of hand, Hypnos attacked Shun with his Eternal Drowsiness, the unsuspecting Saint of Andromeda can't help but fall into it and falls deeply asleep like Saori; Hypnos, despite despising violence, decides that leaving the Saint asleep is too dangerous because his Cloth could eventually wake him up, and decides to eliminate him, this causes Shiryu and Hyoga to also awaken their Divine Cloths and attack the God, having seen his technique they avoid it and defeat him. After being defeated Shun awakens and the three of them run to help Ikki and Seiya who had given up on destroying the vessel and had awakened the true body of Hades; finally Athena is freed from the vessel by the Sword of Hades itself and wears his armor, Saori encloses them with her cosmos to protect them until she is overcome and Seiya sacrifices himself to save her, lamenting the apparent loss of his comrade Shun and the other Bronze Saints abandon the protection of Athena's cosmos, uniting it with that of the Goddess, finally overcoming the cosmos of the God of the Underworld, destroying his body to end once and for all the conflict between Hades and Athena.
Techniques/Attacks
•Andromeda Nebula: The chain extends along the ground, surrounding Shun, forming circles that encircle the wearer as if representing the Andromeda Nebula, a structure similar to a spider web or curtain, which uses centrifugal force to prevent the advance or approach of hostile forces. Anyone who attempts to penetrate or come into contact with the chains is affected by a powerful electric shock of 10,000 volts. •Nebula Chain: Shun manipulates one or both ends of the Andromeda Chains to connect blows that can multiply by hundreds to the opponent to increase the number of hits. •Rolling Defense: It wraps around the saint, rapidly rotating around him, describing fast and continuous circular movements at high speed to form a very compact spiral grid that, like a shield, prevents the passage of rival blows. This is an effective barrier against physical attacks and projectiles from his adversaries, which nevertheless has a weak point, since it leaves a small opening every 100,000 turns that the chain makes. •Thunder Wave: Shun throws the square chain he carries on his right arm at his opponent, allowing them to automatically locate the threat or enemy, regardless of distance. The tip of the chain zigzags, like a wave of lightning, releasing lightning bolts and generating a powerful piercing attack. •Nebula Stream: Shun creates pink air with his will, which he wields at will and invades the entire battlefield. The air takes the form of nebula-like whirlwinds that surround, envelop, and lock onto the opponent, immobilizing them. •Nebula Storm: The user generates a swirling current of air that, after trapping the enemy and paralyzing their movements, intensifies into a violent storm.
