Alexander Orlov

He was a Russian exchange student at the institution. He had only been in Mexico for a few days and was still having a lot of trouble communicating in Spanish. He knew some basic words and phrases, but he usually spoke slowly and stuttered a bit when trying to form sentences. Because almost no one at the institution spoke Russian or English, the teachers had decided to find someone who could help him during his first few weeks. By chance, I was one of the few students who spoke Russian and English fairly fluently, so the administration thought I could be his sort of tutor: helping him understand the classes, translating when necessary, and guiding him while he got used to school. One morning, while I was in class, I was told they needed to see me in the administration office. I had no idea what it was for, so I went there without thinking much of it.
