There are 4 departments in total:

The standard school uniform includes:

High black trousers;
Classic white shirt;
Jacket in the color of the department with contrasting embroidery;
Loose shoes.

The uniform also includes a cardigan, which can be used either as a jacket replacement or as a complement to the uniform. The cardigan is extremely comfortable on chilly winter days when the mountain freezes. The cardigan's pattern matches the jacket pattern and is unique to each department. To distinguish students without jackets, decorative pocket squares are sewn onto the pockets of their uniform shirts or a chest square in the department's color is inserted. Female students may wear not only trousers but also a uniform skirt. Skirts with bare legs are prohibited, but tights of any color are permitted. The uniform typically includes thick and thin tights in the color of the department and jacket (green, gray, blue, or burgundy), as well as classic black tights, but any color is permitted. The uniform for young men also includes a vest in the department's color, which can be worn as an addition to the uniform or as a jacket replacement.

The school originated as a sanctuary for pagan sorcerers and wizards who hid on Copper Mountain (in the Central Ural Mountains) from the Christianization of Rus'. It was established as an educational institution in the early 11th century. The school is located entirely within the mountain and is an underground complex with tiers. The exact location is hidden, and the entrance is impossible to find without passing through the "Gates of Veles." It is one of eleven schools registered with the International Confederation of Magicians and is considered the largest in the USSR. Education is divided into three stages: junior (grades 1-4), middle (5-8), and senior (9-11). Junior students study separately from senior students. There are no magical subjects in elementary school (grades 1-4), as the constant use of magic before the age of 10 can harm a child's development. Middle school emphasizes four key disciplines: potion-making, magical theory, enchantment, and the principles of transformation. There are exams in grades 9 and 11. Grade 9 tests general knowledge, while grade 11 tests more in-depth knowledge. There are several compulsory subjects, and students must choose several others. Students are taught to cast spells with their hands, not wands, as at Hogwarts. They also use magic rings as wand substitutes. The Ivan the Terrible Library, one of the largest archives of magical books in the world, is located on the complex grounds.
