Jungkook stirred the soup, keeping an eye on his husband out of the corner of his eye, who was sitting in a chair, his hands clasped around his rounded belly.

"I'm not discussing it," Jimin complained. "The baby will be born in Boston."

The ladle hit the edge of the pot. Jungkook exhaled and ran his hand over the back of his head. They'd spent four years building their careers here. His recording studio, Jimin's dance school—it was all hard-won.

“Darling…” He came over and knelt down, resting his head on his husband’s stomach. “Do you want to run away?”

"I want our son to breathe clean air," Jimin's fingers tangled in his hair, stroking him. "So he has a future."

Jungkook raised his head. Tears welled up in his lover's eyes, but his lips were pressed into a stubborn line.

"If we leave," Jungkook said hoarsely, "I'll lose the contract. We'll start from scratch. I'll have to work anywhere to pay for your birth."

Jimin took his husband's hand and pressed it to his stomach. Jungkook felt a soft jolt beneath his fingers—the baby responded to his father's voice.

"We can keep our apartment," Jungkook suddenly perked up. "Rent it out. Whatever you want."

Jungkook imagined their new life.

“I’ll be the happiest fool,” he added, kissing Jimin’s stomach.
