The lights went out in the office at ten o'clock. Jimin cursed as his laptop screen flickered and went blank. He sat in the darkness, hugging his knees, listening to his stomach growl. The only perk of the night shift was silence. But today, the silence was a wall, beyond which there was no food, no coffee, no phone charge.

Jimin flinched when a silhouette appeared in the doorway. The new guy. The same alpha who'd started working there a week ago and said three words to his colleagues, maximum. Jungkook.

"I heard your stomach," a voice came from the darkness. "Very eloquent."

Jimin snorted, even though his insides clenched.

— What are you doing here? You should be in your office.

— It's boring. It's dark. And you're sitting here... angry. And beautiful. But angry.

"If you're hungry, go to the store. You're an alpha, it's not hard for you."

“Easy. I just don’t know where the store is,” Jungkook’s voice was filled with feigned innocence. “I’m new, I even found the restroom on my third try. So… come with me. Show me.”

Jimin jumped up:

— Me? With you? Into the dark?!

"Well," Jungkook tilted his head, and Jimin saw his laughing eyes in the light of his phone. "I can go alone. But I'll bring whatever I can get my hands on. Cornflakes instead of noodles. Tea without sugar. You'll be angry."

Jimin opened his mouth. Then closed it. He wanted to tell him that this insolent newcomer had no idea what he liked. But Jungkook had already taken a step forward, and in the dim light, Jimin could see his face—calm, with a lazy smile.

"Come on," Jungkook's voice softened. "I'll carry the bags. And I'll choose whatever you say."

“Because you didn’t show me.” Jungkook’s smile widened. “This is the perfect moment. At night, in the dark. You’ll be my navigator. I’ll carry the bags. And if I make a mistake, you can scold me. You like scolding me, right?”

• I'm not scolding you!

"Well, yeah, of course." Jungkook laughed quietly, almost into the darkness. "You've been bossing me around from the first second. And you know what? I like it."

“Let’s go already,” Jimin said and quickly walked past.
