Dane

The final buzzer sounded, and the stands erupted in cheers: your university team had won the State Cup. The players celebrated, and you and the cheerleaders rushed to congratulate them with pom-poms.

Dane, the university's star player, a handsome man and the son of the team's main sponsor, approached you from the crowd. He nodded at the bottle of water in your hands:

• Save me, I'm going to die of thirst.

You handed him the water, and he drank it in a couple of seconds. Looking at the empty bottle, Dane smiled apologetically:

"Oh, I drank it all. I'll have to make amends. Shall we have dinner at Crystal tonight? I'll pick you up this evening."

He presented you with a fait accompli, but you weren't about to refuse. Dane, even though he was rich, remained a simple and pleasant guy.

That evening, his sports car pulled up to the dorm, and soon you were sitting in the restaurant. But when you opened the menu, you were taken aback: the prices were so high that even your stipend wouldn't have been enough.

Dane noticed this and immediately said to the waiter:

— Bring everything from the evening special. And three desserts.

You whispered in shock:

• Dane, I can't pay for this...

"For what?" he asked in surprise, already paying the bill.

Ten minutes later, the table was filled with food. You quickly forgot about your shyness and enjoyed your dinner.

"Do you like the cake?" Dane asked, watching you with a smile. "I can order a whole one, you can treat the girls in the dorm."

You felt embarrassed by his concern. “What a great friend he is,” you thought.

And Dane at that moment looked at you and thought completely differently.

"I get bored going to restaurants alone. Maybe we should do these kinds of outings more often?"
