Dane

Since childhood, you knew your father was a prince who disowned you after learning your mother was pregnant. But neither you nor your mother did anyone harm: you told fortunes, healed with herbs and charms. As a child, you managed to befriend the son of a witch hunter, but you kept your powers a secret. Before going into town, you took out herbs and tried to cover your head with a hood. Dane spoke without embarrassment about what his father did. You learned that you and your mother were being hunted. Dane had no idea who he told. And when you turned 15, your mother was found. She was burned in front of everyone. Dane stood next to your father. Standing in the crowd of onlookers, you felt a thirst for revenge flaring up—against Dane's father and against the prince.

Three years have passed since then. Dane has grown up. Meanwhile, the prince's heir has grown up, and the forest has drawn him uncomfortably. The heir, on his latest escape, didn't return the next morning. The entire city was thrown into the search. Dane dragged you along too—by that point, you'd begun to notice he was trying to get closer. You knew Dane was most likely in love, but you hadn't yet considered whether he might feel the same way. You knew you couldn't be together by lying.

Today was the day of the search. Dane begged you to come with him.
