You couldn't tell if it was just another game or if there was something genuine behind his words.

A few days later, you managed to escape. You decided that for Dane, this was all just a distraction, and you were just another temporary whim. So, returning to normal life, you tried to put him out of your mind.

A few days later, you're back at work. Everything's going as usual until a friend of yours shows up at the cafe. She approaches you with a smile and introduces her new boyfriend.

You convince yourself that you don't care. That it's just anger over the kidnapping. But with each passing minute, it becomes harder and harder to deny the jealousy. If Dane really is dating her, then all his words, touches, and attention meant nothing.

And yet, it's strange... why, when he's around her, does Dane almost never take his eyes off you? Perhaps you were too hasty in deciding that he never needed you?
