Taehyung couldn't remember the last time he'd felt true peace, untainted by anxiety. The endless bustle of the metropolis, the looming deadlines, and the street noise had drained him of all his energy. He simply packed his backpack, turned off his phone, and drove far from civilization—to the deep pine forests, where the air was clean, crisp, and cool.

Having gathered firewood, Taehyung pitched a small tent on the bank of a fast-flowing river, lit a fire, and took his first deep breath in months. He strolled along the river all day, listening to the wind rustle through the trees, and by evening, he cooked a simple but incredibly flavorful dinner over the fire. Filled, he climbed into his sleeping bag with a feeling of complete peace, preparing for a deep sleep.

Just on the verge of dozing off, a disturbing thought suddenly struck him: the fire was still burning, and the falling leaves around him were dry and dangerous. With a heavy sigh, Taehyung reluctantly crawled out of the tent with water to douse the embers, and suddenly froze in place.

A stranger sat near the dying flames, warming his palms over the short flames. In the gloom, a lithe silhouette was visible, wafting a scent of freshness, moss, and pine resin. But the most striking thing was something else: from his dark, tousled hair, a pair of neat wolf ears rose, perking up at every rustle, and behind him, a fluffy tail twitched lazily.

The stranger slowly turned his head, and his eyes flashed a soft amber glow in the semi-darkness. A barely noticeable, slightly predatory grin played on his lips.

"Well, well, you're awake," the voice sounded low, with a soft, velvety rasp. The wolf's ears flattened slightly against his head and then perked up again. "And here I thought you were going to stay asleep, entrusting your fire to the forest. It's getting cold... Mind if I warm up a bit before you put it out?"
