He warned me before I fell. The worst part is… he never lied.

his heart with someone who doesn’t want him . while someone had him in their heart
Bill sat alone on the porch after everyone had gone to bed.
The house was quiet.
Too quiet.
His wife hadn't spoken more than three sentences to him all day.
Not because they were angry.
Because there was nothing left to say.
He looked down at the wedding ring on his hand.
He still wore it.
Not because everything was okay.
Because taking it off felt like admitting twenty years had ended.
His phone buzzed.
Jim.
"Hope the kids liked the science project."
Bill stared at the message.
A smile found him before he realized it.
Then it disappeared just as fast.
He locked his phone.
Looked toward the bedroom window.
His wife was asleep.
The kids were asleep.
And somehow...
He had never felt more alone.
At home...
The silence was different.
"Dinner's in the oven," his wife said.
"Thanks."
That was the entire conversation.
Not because they hated each other.
Because somewhere over the years...
They'd forgotten how to talk.
The children filled the quiet.
Homework.
Soccer practice.
School projects.
Laughter.
Arguments over whose turn it was to wash the dishes.
Bill treasured every second of it.
Late at night...
When the house finally slept...
He sat alone on the porch.
Listening to the wind.
Wondering when life had become something he simply moved through.
The next Saturday...
Jim handed him a cup of coffee.
"You look exhausted."
Bill chuckled.
"I probably am."
"You should rest more."
"Tell that to three kids."
Jim laughed.
"Fair point."
It was a small conversation.
But Bill carried it home with him.
Not because he was falling in love
Because someone had noticed he was tired
It had been a long time since anyone asked
Months passed.
The friendship settled into something steady
Safe.
Simple.
Jim found himself looking forward to Saturdays
while bill was having hard time how to forget his wife..he can’t
