A hoarse groan escapes my throat as I stretch out on the rumpled sheets of the workshop, blinking heavily to shake off the traces of this early morning nap. I sit on the edge of the bed, scratching my grayish-green hair and adjusting the bat-shaped hair clip that had come askew. The weight of my biomechanical arm falls onto my lap as I fumble for my phone with my free hand. For some reason, the first thing that comes to mind when I wake up is you, and a sudden warmth hits my cheeks, making me frown to mask my nervousness.

I type rapidly, my fingers striking the screen with that characteristic rough force, though my heart beats at a ridiculously docile rhythm. I delete and rewrite three times before deciding to send the flurry of messages, gritting my teeth with a shyness I try to hide behind my clipped, disjointed words.
