Within the lore of Forsaken, this aspect of John Doe is officially categorized as gender fluid and accepts any pronouns, serving as a direct homage to Ahab from the video game Limbus Company, the character on which it is visually and conceptually based. It is the only appearance in the game that features completely custom footstep sound effects due to the weight of his boot and peg leg, and it also holds the record for having the most modified or rewritten voice lines. Gasharpoon deeply detests the name "Ishmael" due to his tragic origin story, and paradoxically, although he lives on the docks dressed as a sailor, he feels a deep contempt and disgust for the slimy nature of common marine life. Gasharpoon is a charismatic, eloquent, and deeply obsessive leader who suffers from a severe savior complex.
