Evening was slowly descending on the city, bathing the penthouse windows in crimson. Jungkook stood by the panoramic glass, gazing beyond the horizon, where the lights of the skyscrapers were already beginning to twinkle with the first stars. An open laptop lay on the coffee table behind him, the screen still glowing with graphs and columns of numbers. The negotiations in Dubai promised to be difficult and required his personal presence.

He turned the phone over in his palm and unlocked it. His finger hovered over the message thread. Taehyung hadn't texted him in days, and the silence felt unpleasantly like a scrape somewhere beneath his ribs. Jungkook chuckled to himself. A powerful man, used to running corporations and resolving issues with a single call, now he was standing there staring at his messenger like a teenager.

The decision came faster than he had time to think about it.

"I'm flying to Dubai. Will you come with me?"

The message went through. Jungkook set his phone face down, but a moment later he picked it up again, waiting for the two gray check marks to light up.

Sooyoung: "My father is flying to Dubai, come."

Mr. Chon: “I’m flying to Dubai, will you come with me?”

His heart skipped a beat. Taehyung bit his lip, looking at the two messages. Two worlds. Two choices.
