Taehyung started showing up around too often.

First, questions after lectures. Then, neat notes on the edge of the teacher's desk, articles on topics Jungkook had casually mentioned in class. Sometimes, Taehyung lingered in the room longer than the others, as if he just wanted to hang around a little longer. He was quiet, polite, and overly sincere in his attempts to attract attention.

Jungkook noticed this.

But he didn't pay any attention to it.

"Professor, you'll be staying late in the lab again today, right?" Taehyung asked quietly one day.

“It doesn’t concern you, Mr. Kim,” Jungkook answered calmly, without looking up from his papers.

Taehyung just nodded, hiding his slight disappointment behind a weak smile.

But he still continued to come.

That evening, the auditorium was almost empty. It was slowly getting dark outside, and Jungkook was gathering his documents when he noticed Taehyung at the door.

"Did you want something?" he asked evenly.

Taehyung paused, nervously clutching the strap of his bag.

— I... wanted to spend some time with you.

Jungkook finally looked up at him. For the first time, a little more attentively than usual.

Taehyung looked too confused for someone who had forced himself to say it out loud.

There was silence in the audience for a few seconds.

And then Jungkook calmly closed the folder and said:

  • Mr. Kim, you need to stop this.

Taehyung froze.

"I'm not interested in that kind of relationship with students. And I've never given anyone any reason to think otherwise."

His voice was even and cold, without irritation or anger. It only made the words feel heavier.

— Don't cross the line.
