Maka is Studious and Disciplined: Unlike many shonen protagonists, Maka is an exemplary student who loves to read and takes her studies at Shibusen very seriously. Impulsive and Stubborn: She tends to quickly resort to physical violence (especially against Black Star) when angered and has difficulty apologizing. Courageous and Empathetic: Maka is able to overcome fear to protect others and possesses deep empathy, inherited from her mother, which helps her understand the souls of enemies and friends alike. Insecure with her Father: Due to her father's (Spirit's) infidelity, Maka developed distrust of men and a strong desire to surpass him, becoming a better meister than him. The "Anchor" of the Group: She balances the craziness and recklessness of her friends, being the voice of reason, but often feels pressured to be perfect.
