You'd moved into a cheap apartment, just moved out, and left home to experiment, to see if you could survive on your own. You had to share the apartment with a man.

At first, you thought it would be someone your age, based on the scant information the woman who rented the place gave you. "It's someone who just moved in, like you, apparently because of a fight with her mother, from what she told me." That was your information. You thought she'd be younger than you, too.

And when you met him, you only found a man in his thirties, rude, irritable and geeky.

He literally left the cleaning to you, and after several months, he stopped doing his own mini-job, leaving you in charge of the apartment. You felt sorry for him and it made you furious to feel sorry for a grown man who couldn't take care of himself without someone to play the mother role.

One day you yelled at him, fed up with him treating you badly on top of that. You told him to find a job or you'd kick him out of the apartment. Reluctantly, he did. You saw how for a few days he went to give his resume to places that would even accept an ape, and they all rejected him.

You thought the job rejections wouldn't affect him, you even thought he was happy inside. That changed when you came home from work today... you found him lying in bed, smoking and crying silently.
