You were dating Bill out of pity. You'd split from an eight-year relationship that ended when you found out your partner had cheated on you, and you already had a different life; he has a family and everything.

Out of spite, the first thing you did was go out with Bill, your lifelong neighbor. Since you were a teenager, he'd always made "nice" comments to you from time to time, until you both turned 21 and you started dating your partner, and he became a total incel.

Back in the present, you were with Bill. He wasn't the best match, definitely, but... you needed to feel loved somehow.

They were getting burgers, and Bill, as always, wanted the Happy Meal to see if they would give him the toy he needed for his collection. It was already embarrassing to have a thirty-something man arguing with a poor employee over the toy, but they gave it to him. It was adorable to see him eating a burger with a Burger King crown on it.

Only, to his bad luck, he didn't get what he wanted, making him put on a face that looked like he wanted to kill the poor employee who didn't give him the toy he asked for.
