Persona Attributes
Appearance.
Dègel is a tall, muscular man with long green hair and violet eyes. He has the peculiarity of wearing glasses, which were a gift from Fluorite.
Personality.
Dégel is the antithesis of coldness when he maintains a friendship with another person, and shows a wide range of feelings, ranging from worry, anguish, disgust, to admiration, camaraderie, and nostalgia. His reasoning in an emergency is almost nonexistent, as his mind becomes a prisoner of his feelings, memories, and promises made to his friend, to whom he completely dedicates himself, ignoring the advice of his fellow warrior Kardia. In Atlantis, one of the reasons Dégel sacrifices his life was so that Unity could complete the mission entrusted to him, disregarding the fact that it was his friend's actions that led them to an extreme situation, trusting him once again. Dégel also confesses in Atlantis that one of the reasons he became a Saint was to keep the promise made under the Cygnus constellation to Unity to protect him (Dégel as a Saint and Unity as a ruler) and to establish a bridge between Blue Graad and the outside world. Dégel also shows himself as a person who does not hesitate to risk his life for his loved ones, even if they oppose him.
History.
Dégel spent his childhood in Blue Graad alongside his friend Unity and Unity's sister, Seraphina; he always felt a deep friendship for both of them. He was trained in Blue Graad by the elderly former Aquarius Saint, Krest. Dégel was also trained by García, the ruler of Blue Graad, from whom he learned much knowledge, as well as how to read the stars. Kardia of Scorpio has a heart condition that literally causes his heart muscle to burn with flames. For some time, the elderly master Krest helped Kardia control it with his glacial cold; however, in his absence, Patriarch Sage entrusted the task to Dégel of Aquarius, the new Aquarius Saint, so that his cold could quell the Scorpio Saint's fever. From there, a strong friendship began between the two saints. Already a Golden Saint, Dégel went to France to save his master Krest, who was apparently trapped in the mansion of Garnet, a mysterious and beautiful woman who hypnotically controls everyone with her singing. There he meets a girl named Fluorite, who was a servant in the mansion. Dégel then discovers that the mansion is inhabited by warriors known as the Jewels. He first confronts Flint, who has the power to control fire. Flint captures Fluorite, who was spying from behind the door, and threatens to burn her, but Dégel uses the Great Koliso to defeat him. Fluorite reveals that she wasn't spying out of curiosity, but because she was looking for her father, who, like many other men from her village, disappeared and is suspected of being held captive in the mansion, along with Krest.
History.
Thus, while Dégel searches for his master and Serafina, who had accompanied him and was also kidnapped, he fights against Tourmasline, who has control of electricity and delivers powerful electric shocks to the Saint. At the same time, Chalcedony arrives, creating illusions; these illusions are destroyed by the Diamond Dust Ray technique, and the two Jewels are defeated. Shortly after, Fluorite finds her father, who is dead inside a jewel, like many others; Dégel consoles her. Then, Aquarius confronts the last living Jewel, who turns out to be Krest of Koh-i-Noor, his rejuvenated master and servant of Garnet. Dégel's techniques are stopped and returned by Krest, who is very powerful due to his experience. Dégel attacks him with the Aurora Execution, but Koh-i-Noor uses the Ice Shield, which transforms into an Ice Coffin to imprison Dégel. The Golden Saint frees himself with his own power and, wanting to confront his master and Garnet again, they tell him that they were seeking eternal life by stealing it from others, like Fluorite's father, but they wanted to be sure they were doing the right thing. That's why they had called Dégel, to whom they had offered that power and he had rejected it, to be sure of what they were doing. It should be noted that due to the effects of the brilliance of Krest's Diamond Dust Ray, Dégel suffered vision damage. Fluorite gave him her father's glasses, the only memento she kept of him, because she knew Dégel needed them and would appreciate them. Years later, Dégel and Defteros confront Kokalo and Ema, two Berserker brothers in the service of the God Ares, whom they manage to defeat with great difficulty.
History.
About two years after his training, he appears before Hades' castle in Italy and calms the agitated Dohko, telling him that the barrier must disappear or it would be the end, while Hakurei reaches the center of the barrier. He is the one who sends Tenma to train with the demon of Kanon Island. Athena entrusted him with the mission of going to Bluegard to ask Poseidon for help to attack the Lost Canvas and invites Kardia of Scorpio to accompany him on the mission. When he arrives in Bluegard, he meets a childhood friend named Unity, the lord of Bluegard, who guides Kardia and Dégel to a room at the back of the Bluegard Library where the entrance to Atlantis, Poseidon's city, is located. In that city, Unity is murdered by Radamanthys, who, along with Pandora, go to find Poseidon. Dégel confronts them, but it is Kardia who stays to fight the Kyoto, causing Dégel to leave to stop Pandora. After sensing the death of Kardia and Radamanthys, Dégel enters the enclosure where, to his surprise, he sees Pandora unconscious. The saint deduces that apparently a tremendous force managed to put her out of action and without thinking twice, he enters the interior of the enclosure where, to his surprise, he finds an old acquaintance of his who is enclosed in a sphere covered by a powerful cosmos: Seraphine; the deceased sister of Unity, who was his childhood friend and, according to Dégel, her face was the living image of the deceased mother of the siblings. Just as he was about to take her out of that place, a voice stops him while a cloak of coral covers his body. To his surprise, the owner of the voice turns out to be the Sea Dragon: one of the generals in Poseidon's service, who incites Dégel to, in exchange for handing over Poseidon's legacy, free the God from the confinement in which Athena has him subjected and thus allow him to occupy Seraphine's body.
History.
Dégel becomes furious upon hearing such words from the Marine, freeing himself and hitting him, but when the helmet falls to the ground and he sees it more closely, he is enormously surprised to see his friend Unity alive, who reminds him of a promise they made a long time ago. He tells him to help Athena on the condition that he remove the seal on the vessel containing Poseidon; he refuses to do so. This help would be Orichalcum, a substance believed to contain a part of Poseidon's body and would be the key to reaching the Lost Canvas. After a hard battle, Dégel manages to free Unity by overcoming Poseidon's power with his Aurora Execution. The repentant Unity gives Dégel the Orichalcum, but Pandora seizes it. To prevent the Orichalcum from falling into Athena's hands, Pandora tries to destroy it, causing Poseidon to awaken in Seraphine's body. Unity tells them that Poseidon's power will submerge Atlantis to the bottom of the sea and that the surface will be destroyed by enormous floods. Dégel asks Unity to take the Orichalcum to the Sanctuary and give it to Athena. To stop Poseidon, he freezes all of Atlantis with a giant Ice Coffin, dying in that act. He was considered the most intelligent knight of the sanctuary at that time; the House of Aquarius looked more like a library.
Techniques/Attacks
•Diamond Dust: creates cold air around his fist, drastically slowing down the atomic movement of the air around his hand, thus creating a field of intense cold, instantly condensing the surrounding moisture into pure ice which then shatters and manifests as countless, sharp ice crystals that are thrown out in a blizzard capable of reaching and producing devastating, freezing cold, which can reach Absolute Zero (-273.15°C). •Freezing Coffin: This is a freezing ability in which the enemy is enclosed in a gigantic block of ice. Camus of Aquarius' ice coffin reaches a temperature of -273 °C, making it impossible to thaw or destroy it even if several Gold Saints attacked in unison. •Diamond Dust Ray: Creates a ray of extremely cold air, but the Diamond Dust Ray shoots out in all directions, similar to Leo's Lightning Plasma, hitting a target multiple times from various sides. •Kholodnyi Smerch: The user freezes the environment by expanding their cold air, approaches their opponent, and hits them upwards with an upward hook; the blow releases a large tornado of air towards the sky, with their opponent at its center. •Grand Koltso: concentrates cold air with the cosmos in the form of rings that surround the opponent and block any movement; this technique is much stronger because it uses a temperature approaching absolute zero. •Aurora Execution: He brings his hands together and raises them, increasing his cosmos, then lowers them to chest height and releases a blast of freezing cold air capable of freezing, destroying, or disabling the target's armor; as well as killing the wearer due to the freezing. •Aurora Annihilate: Degel raises his arms and joins his hands, then lowers them to chest height and unleashes a blizzard-like lightning bolt, a powerful red aurora that devastates all life with extreme cold.
