Persona Attributes

Appearance.

Manigoldo has an athletic build and is very similar in appearance to Deathmask of Cancer. He has white skin and blue hair, and his eyes are also the same color.

Personality.

He is, without a doubt, the most shameless, arrogant, and likeable of all the golden ones of his generation. In fact, he is what his own name indicates; a scoundrel capable of even mocking a god. Manigoldo is a rather peculiar, if not strange, person. From a distance, he appears quite uninterested in socializing and in problems that are not his own. He always acts motivated by his own reasons, not those of others. Truthfully, other people don't interest him much: he wants to be left alone, and that's enough. He is almost always in a good mood unless something irritates him, which he will always make very clear by the expression on his face. But if you get to know Manigoldo well, you will see a person with a great sense of humor who doesn't take anything seriously. Sarcasm and irony are his best weapons when it comes to talking. There is something sadistic about him, but it's always inherent to his ruthless personality on the battlefield. His intuition is impressive: he can predict what will happen and thus avoid problems or danger. Even so, he is imprudent and impulsive most of the time, although when necessary he also knows how to be cautious. In the end, he shows great affection for justice and a sensitive side to the pain of others, risking his own life to save people, capable of sacrificing himself for the benefit of others.

History.

Manigold's village was attacked by Hades' hordes when he was very young. Being the sole survivor, he found himself living among the ruins of his village, surrounded by the souls of the deceased inhabitants, whom he was somehow able to see and understand. Thus, without family and despised by others, he became a highway robber under the pseudonym "Executioner." Sage found him while inspecting the area, a petty thief barely surviving amidst such desolation, who admired death, believing life to be worthless. Sage explained to him that his life was not worthless, but part of the universe, and invited him to the Sanctuary. There, Manigold became his apprentice, but he considered the others weak because they didn't know despair. As a lesson to his student, Sage sent Manigold's soul to the entrance of the Underworld so he would understand that what awaits after death is not peace, but the kingdom of Hades, and that this is why they confront the god. After a time, Manigold would succeed his master Sage as the Saint of Cancer.

History.

Manigoldo is sent by the Pope to fight the Black Saints who formed a group called Nero to carry out mafia activities in the Republic of Venice. Manigoldo isn't sent alone because of the power of these renegade saints; Albafica of Pisces also goes. Upon arriving in Venice, he is robbed by a boy named Gioca. Cancer follows the boy to a cemetery where a member of Nero, Lumaca, is forcing children to steal and taking their money. One child doesn't get enough money and Lumaca abuses him, but Gioca defends him. Lumaca tries to kill them, but Manigoldo intervenes and saves them, using the Seki Shiki Meikai Ha on the renegade to extract the truth. However, someone burns his soul with the Fatuous Fire from afar, revealing the power of the organization. Manigoldo and Albafica go in search of the Black Saints, and Gioca insists on helping them, claiming to know the city. They arrive at a church where they find Allegre of Black Whale, who had killed the priests. He confronts Cancer, but the Black Saint proves immune to the Infernal Waves. Even so, he is killed by Manigoldo's Acubens. Then Rusé of Black Crow appears and confronts Albafica. Rusé uses his power to take everyone's souls to Yomotsu, where neither the blood nor the roses of the Pisces Saint would have any effect. However, Albafica uses his fists and defeats Black Horn. By that time, Manigoldo had taken everyone's physical bodies to Yomotsu because it was risky to leave them in the world of the living without protection. With his power, the leader of the Black Saints, Ávido of Black Altar, takes them to his mansion. Manigoldo confronts him, but Gioca is at the mercy of Yudo of Black Hound, who has the ability to read minds.

History.

The Black Saint discovers Gioca's secret: she is not a boy, but a girl, the last survivor of Death Queen Island after the Black Saints killed her entire clan. It is revealed that the island's characteristic mask has power against the Black Saints, and that's why they killed everyone who could use it. However, only a member of the clan could destroy it. Yudo threatens Gioca to destroy the mask; she intends to use it, but Yudo warns her not to, knowing her thoughts. Gioca manages to use the mask and defeats Yudo, but the Black Saint has the strength to attack her, only to be stopped by Albafica. Meanwhile, Manigoldo continues his fight against Altar. Avid uses the mansion as a weapon with the Seki Shiki Meihitsugi Ha technique, as the mansion is made of the souls of people murdered by Nero. Thus, Avid reveals to Manigoldo that power and money were his motivations, that Hakurei of Altar was his master, but his principles didn't convince him. He was to be the successor to the Altar Armor, but Avid didn't want the armor of a "loser," since Altar is always the Patriarch's assistant. With great effort, Manigoldo frees the souls of the prisoners in the mansion and takes Avid to Yomotsu for their battle. The Black Saint proved superior to the Gold Saint in power, but seemingly voluntarily, after Manigoldo intentionally refrained from hitting him, he throws himself into the crater of Yomotsu, renouncing Hakurei's values until death.

History.

He appears visiting Hakurei, sent by the Patriarch with a message. After talking with Shion about manners, his ability to see the memories of the armors and the Black Altar. They talk with Hakurei about Sage's message; he wants to immediately test Shion to see if he can inherit Aries. Hakurei refuses, Manigold protests, Shion also protests and attacks Hakurei, but he lifts him and places him on the floor. Hakurei explains his reason and takes out the Altar armor, Shion communicates with the armors, then we see a memory that Shion sees. Shion is impressed by the memories of the Altar, while Hakurei talks about the danger of Aries to Shion's spirit. Then Shion decides to leave the tower, abandon his training and go for Aries, which continues to call him. Hakurei warns of the danger that this means, expelling both from the tower, an event that Yuzuriha and Tokusa see from afar. He leaves the tower, talking about his friendship with the previous Aries. He lifts Shion into the air again. Manigold tries to calm them, then scolds Hakurei. Shion tells Manigold that everything is alright. Hakurei observes Shion's cosmos rising, while he tries a technique he didn't teach him, something Shion confirms. He says that the armor taught him that technique. Both attack, after Shion's vow not to let his mind break. Hakurei uses Seki Shiki Meikai Ha, his greatest technique. Manigold feels abandoned and intervenes in favor of Shion, mentioning that he didn't think Hakurei would use the Sekishiki seriously. Hakurei tells him to rescue Shion from the Yomotsu. Manigold notices that it was planned that he would make the rescue and complains about how those twins manipulate him. Hakurei finally entrusts Aries to Shion. During the Holy War; Manigold meets Tenma of Pegasus when he is about to leave the Sanctuary, as he believes that his presence there attracts enemies and doesn't want more people to die because of him, like Hasgard of Taurus.

History.

Manigold intercepts Tenma and informs him that the punishment for deserting during a Holy War is death, but he believes Tenma is more valuable alive, as he can be used against Hades due to the memories Alone, his host body, still holds for Tenma. Manigold knocks Tenma unconscious and puts him in a cell. When Tenma escapes thanks to the help of Yato of the Unicorn and Yuzuriha of the Crane and heads towards Hades' Cathedral, Sage orders him to accompany and help them. When Manigold catches up with them in the Forest of Death, he discovers that they are struggling against a Spectre, Veronica of Nasu. The Spectre attacks him with her flies, but they are no match for Manigold's powers, who doesn't miss the opportunity to make fun of Veronica's feminine appearance, assuring that although they seem compatible, he likes women. The Golden Knight uses the Acubens technique to split Veronica in half, but she survives thanks to the power granted to her by the god Thanatos. Manigold decides to test her supposed immortality by throwing her at Yato, who uses his Unicorn Gallop technique which, although it manages to pierce Veronica, does her no harm. The Spectre then uses her Burial Fort technique, but before she can rot the Knights, Manigold uses the Sekishiki Meikai Ha to transport himself and Veronica's soul to the entrance of the Underworld. There, Veronica lacks her immortality as she is only a soul, so Manigold uses his Sekishiki Kisōen to incinerate her. Before dying, Veronica tries to take Manigold down with her, but fails. Recognizing Thanatos' cosmos in Veronica's body, Manigold immediately departs to the personal palace of the twin gods where, once there, he confronts the God of Death directly. However, Manigold is no match for him and when he is about to be swallowed by the Path of the Gods, his master Sage comes to his aid.

History.

In a desperate plan, master and pupil decide to fight the God. During the fight, Manigoldo loses one of his legs when it is swallowed by the superdimension. Despite everything, Manigoldo decides to sacrifice his life by throwing himself into the superdimension with the God's host body, thus allowing his master to seal Thanatos' soul in Athena's box. After Sage manages to seal Thanatos at the cost of his life, the Box arrives at the Sanctuary with Athena and Hakurei, the latter recognizing that his brother had died. In the twelve Houses, Shion of Aries also felt the Cosmos and prepared to go to the throne room of the Kyōkō, but is stopped by Manigoldo on the way, who looked up to the sky and greeted his fellow Gold Saint with a smile. He then throws the Kyōkō helmet to Shion as a gift between the two of their masters. Manigoldo then disappears, leaving the Cancer Cloth in the temple. Shion realized that he was talking to Manigoldo's spirit, and for the last time. Manigoldo appears in spirit one last time, but to say goodbye to Tenma, asking him not to cry and to move on. Manigoldo would return from death along with the rest of his Gold Saint companions, to launch one last attack to defeat the spirit of Hades that had possessed Alone's body. The combined power of the twelve Gold Saints manages to create the equivalent of sunlight in order to defeat Hades, forcing the soul of the god of the Underworld out of Alone's body, thus achieving their final victory in the Holy War.
