Persona Attributes
Appearance.
El Cid of Capricorn is very similar in appearance to Shura of Capricorn. El Cid has a slender build and is tall, with white skin and black hair.
Personality.
El Cid appears as a somewhat shy and serious person, besides being reserved and very quiet; he gives the impression of having few friends, but the truth is that he greatly values his companions and is always willing to help them when necessary. He has a strong character and seems unmoved by anything. He has a somewhat mysterious air, as if trying to hide something. He is decisive and, although he may seem somewhat cold, he is a true gentleman. According to Dohko of Libra, his personality is a "cold and sharp weapon like a sword".
History.
El Cid trained to perfect his blade, sharing the same desire as his companion Mine, a girl with whom he trained and sought to forge the sacred sword that could cut through anything, the Magic Sword Yaken Zan-ou'ki. Alongside them was a man named Felser, a kind-hearted person who hated fighting despite his strength. One day, El Cid and Mine were trapped in a forest fire, and just as they were about to die, Felser appeared and saved them, cutting down trees with his bare arms to escape the forest. The children were saved, but Felser suffered severe burns, though he was satisfied to have saved them so they could fulfill their dreams. Despite everything, time later Mine fell victim to a respiratory illness that took her life. El Cid promised her he would fulfill their shared dream. El Cid is sent by Sage to Catalonia for a swordsman tournament with a purpose for the sanctuary, thus El Cid arrives in a nearby city where he meets Lacaille. There he has a brief confrontation with a Gladiator and his group. The Capricorn Saint enters the tournament and after defeating his first rivals, he finds himself on the battlefield with Mine, who suddenly draws a katana and destroys part of the coliseum. El Cid withdraws, visibly shocked, and tells Lacaille that Mine was an old friend who supposedly died years ago. Then the final rounds begin, and he encounters the other finalist, Felser the Black Terror. El Cid and Felser are old acquaintances, and although Felser abhorred fighting, he is now the supreme warrior of Catalonia and knows that the reason El Cid was sent there was because of him.
History.
Another tournament participant manipulates a puppet that attacks El Cid. El Cid destroys the puppet, but the scientist tells him that its electrodes will stop his cosmos. El Cid attacks the scientist anyway, but he seems to be a machine. El Cid easily stops him with his sword. In this way, El Cid defeats his first-round opponent. The tournament progresses, and the dark knight and the brilliant golden knight meet. El Cid reveals the truth of his mission: in ancient times, this city was attacked by the gods, and now, out of nothing, it has reappeared as a product of a dream; this is according to the research of Sisyphus of Sagittarius and his own research on the twin gods, especially the god of sleep, Hypnos. Behind everything, the appearance of Mine and Ferser, is Hypnos and the gods of dreams. Cid accuses Ferser of releasing the god Hypnos. Ferser doesn't care, nor does Cid, and they will fight. Ferser's power increases thanks to the fury of the people, and also thanks to the power of another god of sleep: Phobetor, and he draws the Zanoki sword. It was thanks to the power of that god that everything became reality. When everything seems to favor Ferser, El Cid removes his armor and sharpens his sword. The fight between El Cid and Ferser is at its most exciting point, with Cid determined to fulfill the destiny of his sword and that of Ferser and Mine, but the power of Ferser's sword is beyond what Cid can imagine. And El Cid sees the true form of the Zanoki sword and manages to demonstrate the power of his sword. Ferser explains his motives: he created everything thanks to the power of the god of sleep to see Mine again. Suddenly, the power of the god Phobetor is revealed.
History.
Phobetor tells El Cid that thanks to Ferser he has been freed after Athena sealed him away a long time ago. The sky begins to break and Phobetor says that the city will be absorbed by the Dream World. Phobetor begins to absorb all the power of the people clinging to Mine's dream; El Cid doesn't think of giving up, and Phobetor will absorb him, and the Golden Saint cannot move. When it seemed like the end, Mine tells El Cid to end this dream, that what she wants is for El Cid to become Excalibur, and in that way he recovers his strength; thus, Capricorn stops one of the dream gods, Phobetor, and pierces the gigantic god. Mine says goodbye to El Cid. Ferser says goodbye and apologizes to El Cid. At the end of the Gaiden, El Cid goes with Lacaille back to the Sanctuary, and Lacaille accepts the hard path of becoming a Saint, but he will do it, and we see Lacaille already in the Sanctuary, with Sisyphus in the background. After the death of the Golden Saint Manigold of Cancer during the battle that sealed the God of Death, Thanatos, El Cid takes action, searching for the Dream World to free the soul of another Golden Saint, Sisyphus of Sagittarius. On his way, he encounters several Specters of Hades, among them Gregor of Genbu, whom he defeats effortlessly. But then he is surrounded by three of the four Gods of Dreams, Oneiros, Ikelos, and Phantasos, who are looking for the soul of Tenma of Pegasus, to imprison it forever in the Dream World and thus prevent it from continuing to reincarnate in the future.
History.
El Cid decides to attack Icelus, but Icelus manipulates space and returns his cutting attack, severing his arm below the elbow. El Cid tries to attack him with a kick, but Icelus counterattacks and throws him off a cliff, leaving him for dead, while Phantasos decides to take the severed arm as a souvenir. However, El Cid survives the fall and manages to enter the Dream World using the resonance of his severed arm's protector as a guide, appearing right next to Phantasos, whom he destroys with one blow. El Cid then arrives in Phobia, ruled by Icelus, who wants to continue his battle against the Golden Knight. Despite lacking an arm, El Cid can still create a Cosmos sword to attack, but Icelus returns all his blows, inflicting many cuts and attacking him from his distorted space, so El Cid cannot guess where he will be attacked. After receiving several blows, El Cid decides to spray the area with his own blood to know where the space is distorted, revealing where Icelus will attack, thus managing to defeat him with a single thrust. El Cid manages to reach Morphia, where Sisyphus's soul is imprisoned and where he meets Tenma, who has just defeated the fourth God of Dreams, Morpheus. Sisyphus's soul should have been freed after Morpheus's death, but his own anguish and sorrow keep him imprisoned, preventing Tenma or El Cid from entering to rescue him. Then the last survivor of the four gods, Oneiros, appears and summons the souls of his three brothers to create a gigantic creature.
History.
El Cid and Tenma attack him, but he recovers from all the blows and uses his Guardian Oracle technique on the Knights, but they are defended by Athena's soul, which, due to the damage caused by Tenma and El Cid in the Dream World, has been able to travel there to save Sisyphus's soul. El Cid cuts through space after Oneiros, and thanks to his Jumping Stone technique and Tenma's Pegasus Meteor Fist, they manage to bring Oneiros to the real world to protect Sisyphus's sleep while Athena is inside, but once outside Oneiros discovers and kills three of El Cid's subordinates who had come to help him, Rusk of Compass, Lacaille of Stern and Tsubaki of Sail. The battle against Oneiros continues, but neither Tenma nor El Cid are able to inflict permanent damage on him, not even with the help of Yato of Unicorn and Yuzuriha of Crane, who come to their aid. Luckily, Athena manages to free Sisyphus from his dream and bring him to the real world, in the Sanctuary, from which Sisyphus launches his Golden Arrow, charged with Athena's cosmos, towards the battle. Through telepathy, Sisyphus explains his plan to El Cid, who splits the Golden Arrow into four with his Cosmos sword, thus wounding the four souls of the Dream Gods at once. Oneiros tries to kill Tenma before dying, but El Cid intervenes and stabs him in the chest with his severed arm, dying later in the resulting explosion.
Techniques/Attacks
•Excalibur: This is a technique that involves using the arms with such physical strength that it is capable of cutting practically anything as if it were a sword. •Jumping Stone: This is a technique of the Capricorn Saint that is based on using his legs to counter an attack, taking advantage of the force of his opponent's technique or simply delivering a powerful kick to the opponent. It is based on the legs of mountain goats and the leaps they make to ascend steep slopes. •Excalibur Caliburnus: The Capricorn Saint crosses his arms to concentrate his cosmos in them, and as this happens, several dark rays begin to release from his arms, and behind him auras of two sacred swords crossing are projected. Once he has concentrated enough power, he unleashes the powerful attack that releases from each of his arms a wave of energy that cuts everything in its path and, upon impacting its target, produces a large explosion. •Ex Caliburn: The Capricorn Saint of Capricorn creates an attack from his cosmos that he uses when his two arms are broken. This technique is very similar to Excalibur, but it also has the power to cut objects and divine beings. •Double Excalibur: This is a technique in which the Capricorn Saint is able to double the Excalibur attack, generating cuts from both his left and right arms. He launches a first piercing Excalibur strike, and then, instantly, executes a second cutting blow with his other arm. Unlike the normal Excalibur, he doesn't need to move his arm to perform this technique. •Dance Excalibur: Instead of a single slash, Capricorn sends multiple slashes at once, creating an entire net of death. It projects a grid of cutting blows simultaneously covering their entire field of vision, making any evasive maneuver impossible for any opponent.
