Personality.
His loyalty to the goddess is unquestionable, being on several occasions not only her closest companion, but also an advisor in the face of doubts that the human reincarnation of Athena faces in her process of becoming a complete deity. He has a fairly good relationship with Hasgard of Taurus, whom he seems to have known for a long time due to their seniority in the Sanctuary. He also seems to have a close relationship with El Cid of Capricorn, showing excessive cordiality towards him and worrying about him during the tenth saint's fight with the Oneiros. It is implied how dangerous the twin gods considered him because of the information he had about them. Hades himself blames him for the separation of Alone and Sasha in the past, so the god of the Underworld also harbors resentment towards him. Sisyphus of Sagittarius, the head of the group of Athena's Saints, is in charge of ensuring Athena's safety from the first time he saw her. His love for the Goddess transcends the boundaries of the title of Saint he holds. Apparently, Sisyphus fell in love with Sasha when she was an adult, but for obvious reasons he never said it, however, when she is about to die, Sisyphus himself acknowledges that he "came to love Sasha, with feelings that were not exactly like those of a Saint".
History.
After the Black Saints' attack on the Sanctuary, Sisyphus goes in search of his friends to help them, but the young man is also trapped in the fire. At that moment, Ilias appears and saves the young people. Some time later, Sage takes Sisyphus to Ilias, entrusting him with his training to become a Saint. The Pope also mentions that he didn't know if Ilias knew it or not, but Sisyphus is his younger half-brother. Raised by his half-brother, Sisyphus has lived being compared to Ilias, living in the shadow of a man considered a hero. Years before the Holy War, Sisyphus was with his companions Rasgado and Aspros, who were waiting for Ilias. Then a group of Centaurs arrives to attack a nearby village. Sisyphus and Rasgado don't hide their intentions to fight them, however Aspros insists that they should wait for Ilias; nonetheless, the other two go to confront them. At first they defeat them with some ease, but then the one who guided them in the attack appears. Then Sisyphus and Rasgado are attacked by a large number of arrows that absorb their vitality. Sisyphus is trampled again and again, but the one who comes to his rescue is Ilias of Leo himself, who with his Lightning Plasma defeats his rivals quickly. Aspros quickly comes to Sisyphus's aid, while Ilias takes Hasgard away. Days later, Sisyphus's training continues, honing his skill with the bow and arrow. Although the young apprentice hit the center with his arrow, Ilias tells him that despite everything, his brother still doesn't listen to the wind. The young apprentice questions what more he wants him to do, having pierced the center of every falling leaf. Ilias tells him to converse with the wind. Sisyphus tells him he has reflected on his actions in the last mission, and the Golden Saint then tells him to shoot the arrow without using the bow or his eyes.
History.
Sisyphus tries, but he can't concentrate, remembering the words of those who compared him to Ilias. Suddenly, Sisyphus feels his brother behind him and believes he plans to kill him. However, he shoots the arrow, hitting the center. The young apprentice opens his eyes and realizes his brother hasn't moved and hasn't used light speed or psychokinesis. The Golden Saint explains that he only spoke to the wind to show his brother the way. Then he tells him that the eyes of Sagittarius always fix their gaze on a point, becoming the light that guides his comrades. That's why he shouldn't lose sight of the world and himself with idle thoughts, and that if Sisyphus achieves this, Mother Earth and the wind will obey him. The young apprentice doesn't understand his brother's words and wonders if this is because he isn't his brother. Ilias tells him he must first become like nature, and if he does, he will be more powerful than any other Saint. A year later, Sisyphus fights the Golden Saint, Lugonis of Pisces, to be named the Saint of Sagittarius. The apprentice is quickly defeated by the Saint of Pisces, but he was able to hit him, which was his purpose. The young man falls to the ground, causing the Saint of Pisces to ask those present to call the medical unit, as it's possible Sisyphus was exposed to his poisoned blood. After this, Sisyphus was named a Golden Saint.
History.
Eight years before the Holy War against Hades, Sisyphus was worried about the possible resurrection of Typhon, who could awaken in Etna. At that moment, Aspros appeared and told him that the Patriarch had entrusted this mission to Rasgado, which calmed Sisyphus somewhat, although the Gemini Saint joked a little about the Taurus Saint, because he hadn't been able to protect Ilias two years earlier, and had even lost track of Regulus. But Sisyphus put an end to his jokes and told Aspros that he trusted Rasgado, ending the conversation. He was in charge of finding the incarnation of Athena of that era, who for some reason was not born in the Sanctuary but elsewhere. After a search, Sisyphus found the girl, who turned out to be Sasha, in a town in Italy. After making a promise to Tenma that he would always take care of her, he left for Greece. Sisyphus of Sagittarius spent years traveling the world seeking information that could be used against the god of sleep, Hypnos. In this way, he learned how to break the Dream Barrier that protected Hades' Castle. In the animated version, El Cid of Capricorn accompanied him on this journey. Sisyphus was worried when he learned that Kardia of Scorpio took Sasha to a bar in a place that apparently is Mexico, but Sage calmed him, saying that it was necessary for the girl's growth and the goddess's awakening, and that Kardia, despite his personality, was quite responsible. He was one of those responsible for the preparations for the next Holy War; he traveled to the tomb of Ilias of Leo where his nephew Regulus of Leo was, who initially mistook him for a thief who wanted to take the Leo Armor, and then realized that he was a Saint, his uncle. Sisyphus took Regulus to the Sanctuary and trained him there along with another of his students, Yato.
History.
He was also present, along with El Cid's students, when the Capricorn Saint perfected his Excalibur; similarly, he intervened so that Pakia would reconsider and not have to suffer the punishment of deserters. Worried about the well-being of his nephew, Sisyphus, who was on his first mission, Sage tells him that he must have faith in the young Leo Saint, because he is stronger than the Sagittarius Saint believes. The latter tells him that as his master, he doesn't doubt the abilities of the young prodigy who achieved the rank of Golden Saint in record time, but he also mentions that he is concerned that the heart of the young Leo Saint is still immature, since the young man's father died seven years ago and it took him five years to find his nephew alone in the forest, only in the company of the Leo Cloth. Sage replies that personally, that's why he believes Regulus is such a good observer, and then comments that the young Leo Saint's first mission is in Ireland, where he must protect the young daughter of a family allied with the Sanctuary. The Pope comments that to stop the imminent resurrection of Balor, he chose Regulus because the young man has good eyes. When Dégel of Aquarius presents the report of what happened in the Arena of Spirits to Patriarch Sage, Sisyphus doesn't believe what he's hearing. Two years before the Holy War, Sisyphus was present at the meeting of the Golden Saints with Patriarch Sage. When the God of the Underworld appeared in the Sanctuary, Sisyphus was one of those present. He resisted an attack from the god, but Alone's memory surfaced and he recognized Sisyphus as the one who took Sasha away in her childhood.
History.
But since Hades wanted to kill Athena, Sisyphus had no choice but to attack the invader with his Sagittarius Golden Arrow, even launching it despite the pressure inflicted by the god. However, since Hades was a god, the arrow rebounded against Sisyphus, piercing his chest. Sisyphus appeared to fall into a deep sleep, incapacitated to continue fighting. Later it is revealed that his soul is imprisoned by the god of sleep, Hypnos, because Sisyphus possesses vital information about the twin gods. Apparently, Sisyphus was the messenger of the Patriarch, tasked with investigating and finding out everything possible about the Gods. That is why he knew where to find Athena and perhaps knows how to imprison Hades again. That is why the Saint's soul is snatched by the lesser god of sleep, Ikelos, and taken to the Dream World. Sasha and El Cid set out to rescue him. Athena has arrived at Morphia to enter Sagittarius's dream to save him. The Saint's dream is the day Sisyphus arrived at his hometown to take her to the Sanctuary. Sisyphus is before a young, dreamed Athena; the little girl retreats, the little dreamed Tenma reacts and confronts Sagittarius. After much pleading, Sisyphus finally manages to take the girl, but doubt overwhelms him and he wonders if he is doing the right thing. Just then, little Athena replies that he is wrong. A terrible burst of black fire has fallen from the sky and covered Sagittarius's body. His clothes have begun to burn. The girl looks at him with hatred. Approaching him, she tells him that this is what happens for interfering in a deception against the great gods.
History.
Guilt overwhelms him; he knows she's right. His golden armor has covered his body, yet he can't contain a cry of pain. The girl explains that he is the cause of this Holy War. The Sagittarius armor has left his body, reforming beside the little girl, aiming the golden arrow directly at his heart. Inside himself, he thinks it's true, that he is the cause of this Holy War, and he asks the Sagittarius armor if it thinks the same, because if so, then it should shoot him. The armor doesn't hesitate, and the arrow pierces Saint's heart. The true Athena, who entered the dream, has witnessed the scene. Now she understands; it's because of his feelings of guilt that Sisyphus hasn't been able to wake up from this dream. Black flames envelop him, covering him in a Surplice. Athena watches him; he looks up, furious with himself. Sasha advances to stand near him and shouts that it's not his fault. But it's too late; his soul has been corrupted. He abruptly pulls the golden arrow from his heart and places it on his bow, aiming it at his goddess. The goddess provokes him and encourages him to shoot the arrow. The possessed warrior hesitates for a second, but his dark side prevails, and the arrow flies, piercing Sasha's chest. He fired the arrow consciously, but at the same time feels guilty and worries about her. Sasha touches her chest; through his attack, she has understood the tremendous pain her soul has been enduring. She slowly approaches him, touching the arrow that wounds her, and tells him that her existence in that world is the reason he was hurt. Sisyphus watches her, terrified, calling her by name. Sasha can't resist any longer and throws herself at him, embracing him tightly.
History.
The goddess's love has made him tremble. Sasha explains to him that it's not the Saint's fault, and the shadows begin to dissipate; in the background, a golden glow begins to emerge. Carefully, she places one of her hands on the warrior's chest, and upon contact, the surplice begins to break. Sisyphus recovers and promises to fight alongside Athena. Sisyphus has awakened; he knows the secret to defeating the sleep gods, the immortal Oniros who are currently fighting El Cid of Capricorn, Tenma of Pegasus, Yato of Unicorn, and Yuzuriha of Crane. Sisyphus must pierce the soul of each of the four gods fused with his Golden Arrow, but that arrow must be charged with Athena's cosmos to work. Thus, Sisyphus launches an arrow, while Sasha charges it with her own power, as if she herself were also launching it. The arrow travels thousands of kilometers to reach Italy, but it's only one arrow and there are four gods. To counter this, El Cid, who was waiting, leaps and intercepts it, cutting it into four pieces with his Excalibur. Each of these pieces pierces the gods, and El Cid delivers the final blow. He does something similar to break Hypnos's last defense over the Cathedral of Hades; he fires an arrow that is teleported to the forest surrounding the cathedral, destroying the Dream Barrier that prevented access to Hades's domain. From this moment on, and without a Patriarch leading the fight, he directs the massive invasion with all the Saints who remain alive. Atla transports them in front of the Cathedral, but the Hades Barrier still prevents the army from reaching it. Dohko and Shion advance, along with Tenma, Yuzuriha, and Yato, to confront Hades directly. Sisyphus could not complete this mission because Alone moved his location to heaven, in the Lost Canvas.
History.
As the Saints repair the Ship of Hope, part of the Garuda Division arrives to assault and destroy the vessel. Violate of Behemoth confronts Regulus of Leo, but the young Leo defeats her, demonstrating significant superiority, but ultimately the Judge of Hell disables Leo. Aiacos heads towards the ship, but Sisyphus protects the ship's interior from the Spectre's attack, who prepares to use the heavy weapon of his own Black Ship. Tenma and Yato fly in the reborn ship of that era; Garuda delivers a speech in which he rejects the idea of Sisyphus having friendly ties with the other saints, stating that his subordinates should not be his friends but only subordinates who fear their leader. Aiacos attacks the ship with the technique Conqueror of Indra, black flames that he fires from the ground to the sky where the ship is, but Sisyphus in the blink of an eye is already on the ship's mast and intercepts the Judge of Hell's flames, launching a rain of golden arrows. The battle between the Saints and the Specters takes place on flying ships; Aiacos's ship rises and attacks the Ship of Hope head-on, with Yato of the Unicorn in charge of steering the ship. Aiacos of Garuda sets his own ship ablaze, crew and all, to strike the defenders of Athena with that power and incinerate them, but just before impact Sisyphus stops the impact with his own hands and, with his technique Kheiron's Light Impulse, extinguishes the black fire and saves the crews of both ships.
History.
Aiacos's crew recognizes how they were saved by the Golden Saint, while Garuda's ship, though no longer burning, strikes the Ship of Hope with force. Seeing doubt in his men, Aiacos attacks and kills them, calling them disposable. The Judge disembarks and faces the Sagittarius Saint, both ready for a one-on-one battle. Aiacos of Garuda makes his characteristic X mark on the ground, claiming Sisyphus will fall dead when he uses his technique. Sisyphus attacks Garuda with a rain of arrows, but uses one of his surviving subordinates as a shield. Therefore, Sagittarius stops attacking and becomes vulnerable to the Spectre's Galactic Illusion, which immobilizes the Saint. Aiacos then uses his greatest technique, the Garuda's Wingbeat, seemingly killing Sisyphus. However, Sisyphus rises, only to be attacked again by Garuda's Galactic Illusion. To avoid death, Sisyphus blinds himself to avoid perceiving the Spectre's illusion. However, Aiacos reveals that it doesn't matter that Sagittarius destroyed his eyes, as the technique reaches the brain directly. On the verge of death, Sisyphus awakens his Eighth Sense, the sense to survive hell, and frees himself from the Galactic Illusion, attacking Garuda with a powerful burst of light, defeating him definitively. The Saints finally reach the Lost Canvas, but the guardian of the gate is the Spectre Pharaoh of the Sphinx, who uses his Curse Balance technique to rip out the hearts of the Silver Saints, stating that the Gate to the Lost Canvas will not open unless the heart is balanced with the feather of truth.
History.
Pharaoh considers it a pity, in his opinion, that the hearts of the Saints are not true, and threatens to do the same with the other three Silver Saints. Sasha interrupts, claiming that she trusts her warriors, but to prevent them from suffering, the goddess offers her heart to be weighed on the scales. However, Tenma steps in and offers himself as a victim of the Curse technique. Pharaoh is delighted, as Hades will be pleased to receive Pegasus' heart, and proceeds with the technique. However, Sisyphus intervenes to prevent Tenma from sacrificing himself. Tenma tells Sagittarius not to fight yet because he is badly wounded from facing Garuda, but Sisyphus assures him that no one should sacrifice themselves in vain. Thus, Pharaoh extracts the heart that Sisyphus offered to prove his loyalty to Athena and places it on the scales. At first, the scales don't tip, and the heart is heavier, but suddenly, and to Sphinx's surprise, there is a balance between the feather and the heart, and the door opens. Pharaoh is disconcerted because the scales shouldn't balance, as he was manipulating them with his cosmos. Sisyphus clarifies that Pharaoh's cosmos is not as powerful as the loyalty in his heart, and thus, with a single punch, Sisyphus defeats Sphinx. But in the process, Sisyphus sacrifices his heart and falls seemingly dead. However, the door that was opening suddenly stops, and Pharaoh rises, saying that the door will not open again because of his curse, and only an explosion equivalent to the Big Bang could open it, but, he said, it would be outside the limits of Athena's army. Immediately, Sphinx falls dead from his wounds.
History.
Some say it will be impossible to generate a Big Bang, but Shion reveals that it is possible, but it requires three saints, and at that moment only two are alive: Shion himself and Regulus. But Sisyphus, despite everything, rises to make one last effort and, between the three of them, perform the forbidden technique, the Athena Exclamation, which opens the door. At that moment, Sasha remembers when Sisyphus took her to the Pope as a child and the feelings of happiness of the Sagittarius Saint. Sisyphus dies definitively. During the battle between Shion and Dohko against the god of the underworld, Hades, the ten Gold Cloths that had been summoned by the Aries Saint suddenly separate and are once again worn by the Gold Saints who died in battle; among them, Sisyphus. With the help of the deceased Saints, Shion and Dohko manage to create the equivalent of sunlight in order to defeat Hades. The explosion of pure light has caused the soul of the god of the Underworld to leave Alone's body, escaping from that place in search of refuge.
Arms
The Golden Arrow of Sagittarius is, along with the bow, the weapon of the Sagittarius Cloth.
Techniques/Attacks
•Atomic Thunderbolt: It rises into the heavens before beginning its attack, surrounded by a golden aura of Cosmos, and its fist, charged with electrical energy, releases plumes of energy, before striking towards its opponent, releasing a multitude of electrically charged energy spheres from its fist at the speed of light. When the electrical spheres reach their target, they explode to destroy everything they touch. The attack produces a large explosion accompanied by lightning where the electrical energy spheres impact, causing damage even if the attack is dodged by the opponent, due to the shockwave and lightning produced by the explosion. • Kheiron's Light Impulse: He extends his wings and propels a wide beam of light with his arms, generating a massive whirlwind of golden wind created by the wind pressure, destroying everything in its path. •Issen Hissatsu: This technique involves firing a bolt of devastating energy; the user raises their right arm with three fingers extended and launches a ray at the opponent. •Infinity Break: This technique consists of releasing an endless stream of light arrows from the fist, which travel through space in a spiral direction. • Kheiron's Thyella: The Saint of Sagittarius flaps the wings of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, causing a powerful, immense whirlwind of wind that destroys everything around it. •Cosmic Star Arrow: He raises his cosmos to the maximum, concentrating it at the tip of one of Sagittarius' arrows, and in front of him and his bow a kind of barrier appears from which a multitude of cosmos arrows are fired. Finally, he concentrates his energy even more and truly launches the Sagittarius Arrow, which is charged with an enormous amount of cosmos.
