Persona Attributes
Appearance.
Nicole is described as an elegant and likeable man, who, during his attendance at the play with Shun, is dressed in black. He has brown hair and a calm gaze, having the appearance and style of an "intellectual" person. This is reaffirmed when his face is again described as that of a Greek statue, with an intellectual and gallant beauty.
Personality.
Nicole is frequently described as a serious and calm person; however, during one of the battles against the Gigas, it is said that when it comes to protecting Athena, Nicole is severe and completely insensitive to the individual needs of the Saints. He also displays a very solemn attitude regarding his duties as the Patriarch's substitute, always speaking respectfully to Athena and speaking in her name when bestowing the Coma Cloth on Mei or sending the Saints on missions from the Pope's Chamber. However, outside his role in the sanctuary, Nicole shows himself to be a simple and approachable person, going to the theatre with Shun or while piloting the plane with Seiya to Sicily.
History.
In Athens, Nicole and Shun attend a play at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus while chatting. Shun wanted to bring Seiya, but he had refused the offer. Nicole asks him about his knowledge of theatre and what he thinks of the play they are watching: "Orestes," a trilogy by Aeschylus. Before the end of the second act, Nicole senses something is wrong and stands up, realizing that a Greek play cannot explicitly show a murder as it is taboo. She then notices that there are two Orestes on stage, and the one who had murdered the actress playing Clytemnestra points his sword at the previous actor playing Orestes and beheads him. Immediately afterwards, the assassin leaps into the audience to attack Shun, who uses his chain to defend himself and shatter the sword. Attacking at high speed, the masked man hits Nicole, throwing him against a wall and disappearing. Shun recovers and stays to care for Nicole. Nicole, now acting as the Patriarch's deputy, meets with Shun, Seiya, and Athena in the Pope's Chamber, where they determine who their enemies are, and Nicole recounts the events that occurred during the Gigantomachy, the ancient war between the Giants and the Saints. After this, Nicole assigns the two Bronze Saints the mission of investigating Sicily, despite Saori's protests, but at that moment Kiki appears, complaining that they made him travel back and forth to Sicily to find a guide. The young guide turns out to be an acquaintance of Seiya, Shun, and Saori: Mei, one of the orphans from the Graad Foundation.
History.
Nicole takes Seiya, Shun, and Mei to Sicily by plane. Once near the island, Nicole tells them to prepare to jump out of the plane, while Seiya jokes about Nicole's lack of concern for the Saints' well-being by sending them so abruptly into battle. Once the three have jumped, Nicole wishes them Athena's protection. Later, Nicole returns to the Sanctuary and reports to Athena, informing her that she had asked Kiki to bring news of the events in Sicily, but Saori decided to give the boy different orders. The acting Patriarch sees this as a sentimental impulse on the young woman's part and wishes she had consulted him beforehand, but he respects her decision as it is Athena's will, and precisely for that reason he promises to protect her. After the battle in Sicily, in the Pope's Chamber, Nicole talks with the Bronze Saints. He tells them Mei's story, how her master was involved in Saga's Rebellion and ordered Mei to obtain the Coma Cloth.[4]
Due to this revelation, Nicole concludes that it was at that moment that Mei ended up being manipulated by the Gigas and was behind the attacks all this time, including the murders at the Odeon Theater. While Nicole continues discussing the events, such as the true nature of the Gigantomachy, she also tells them that Yulij is hospitalized at the Graad Foundation Hospital and Mei is being cared for by Saori. In the Sanctuary, Nicole enters Mei's room once he has finally woken up, questioning him to obtain information about his time under Typhon's control. After that, Nicole acts as the Pope's substitute and recognizes Mei as the Saint of the Coma Cloth.
History.
In the Pope's Chamber, Nicole informs Athena that she has sent the Bronze Saints to specific regions of Europe to gather clues about the location of Typhon's new Underground Sanctuary. Nicole based her information on Greek poems to learn about the Giants, as their exploits were never described in the Sanctuary's historical records. Saori worries about the time it's taking to find Typhon; every minute that passes, the god of the Giants recovers more of his immense power. Therefore, much to Saori's displeasure, Nicole asked Kiki to go to the Peak of the Five Elders for help. Saori and Nicole then begin to discuss having called Shiryū for the upcoming battle, when suddenly, a roar shakes those present and a piece of Andromeda's Chain, which had crossed the dimensional threshold to reach them, appears before them. The two understood that Shun, who had gone to Anatolia to investigate the Arima Volcano, was in danger. Later, Nicole goes to the Sanctuary's library; upon arriving, she finds Shiryū, Mei, and Yulij's corpse. Upon seeing her, Nicole is momentarily shocked, but recovers and informs them both of the danger Shun is in. In the Sanctuary Cemetery, Nicole, along with Seiya, Hyōga, and Mei, bury Yulij and pay her a final tribute, while the sky above them darkens due to a veil of ash and dust.
History.
In the Pope's Chamber, Nicole, along with Saori and Tatsumi, show Seiya, Hyōga, and Shiryū, Andromeda's Chain belonging to Shun. She orders them to go to Anatolia, to Mount Arima, to rescue him. After that, Nicole asks the other Bronze Saints—Nachi, Ban, Geki, Ichi, and Jabu—to enter the chamber. She instructs them to protect the Sanctuary and Athena in her absence. However, when Jabu asks where Mei is, the chamber members cannot answer, as they don't know her whereabouts. At that moment, Kiki appears to inform them that he has completed his mission of teleporting Mei to Anatolia. This surprises Nicole, as she hadn't given that order, so everyone realizes that Mei had gone ahead alone because of recent events. Therefore, Saori orders Nicole to bring the Golden Dagger to offer some drops of her blood to bless their Cloths and thus protect her Saints from Phlegra, the Underground Temple of Typhon. Nicole, along with Seiya and the others, are teleported to the Anatolian peninsula thanks to Kiki's powers; specifically, they find themselves in a valley covered by a stone forest. Nicole then tells them the story of the "Lair of Thyphoeus" described in this region, revealing the existence of Equidna and her monstrous offspring.
History.
After that, Nicole asks Kiki to stay put and to flee if she senses any danger. The four Saints, determined to save Shun and Mei, head towards Mount Arima, but as they were approaching, a thunderous sound suddenly stops them and the ground beneath them begins to break apart. After the collapse, Nicole ends up with Shiryū, so they both decide to advance together through the underground labyrinth, which is illuminated by Typhon's Phlegra. While they were talking, Shiryū senses a weak Cosmos, so the two follow it and find Mei lying on the ground. Nicole and Shiryū rush to help their comrade, but Mei warns them that it's a trap. Suddenly, the place darkens and Nicole receives a fatal blow that pierces him, breaking his cloth in the process. The attacker was Ladon, the Hundred-Headed Dragon, who had previously knocked Mei unconscious to use him as bait. Nicole, with his last breath, tells Mei that he and his cloth are the key to sealing Typhon, since the cloth has been stained since mythological times by the blood of Athena.
Techniques/Attacks
•Seki Shiki Meikai Ha: He concentrates his cosmos at the tip of his right index finger, from which a white aura emanates, then sends a spiral wave of radiation in the form of white rings that expand and entwine the opponent's body to separate the soul from the body and draw it towards the realm of the dead. •Seki Shiki Konsō Ha: attracts and uses nearby lost souls to the palm of the hand; upon obtaining sufficient energy, it uses them as gunpowder to produce a large explosion, and upon obtaining sufficient energy, it launches a kind of luminous ray that acts as fuel to generate a terrible explosion. •Seki Shiki Kisōen: Uses the blue and white will-o'-the-wisps of Yomotsu Hirasaka to feed on the soul of its target, incinerating it, as the blue flames give no heat, but burn. •Seki Shiki Meihitsugi Ha: He concentrates his cosmos in his right index finger, sending a spirit that rapidly launches itself towards the opponent, who is immobilized by other spirits. Afterwards, he clenches his fist, causing these spirits to inflict great damage, even capable of destroying the opponent's armor. •Seki Shiki Tenryō Ha: One must be able to deploy a high-powered cosmos, allowing them to violate the laws governing the Underworld. Therefore, the user of this technique invokes the spirits and cosmos of fallen warriors, creating a sphere of energy with great destructive power.
