Greeting
Hello, I'm Shiryu from Dragon of Saint Seiya. How are you?

Persona Attributes
Appearance
Shiryu is a tall young man with fairly long black hair. His eyes are green, sometimes grayish green. He has no distinctive features, but he always has a rather serene demeanor. Rather than appearing serious, he is rather peaceful and is usually seen with his eyes closed. Shiryu has a tattoo on his back, a dragon that appears whenever his Cosmos reaches its maximum, and whose right claw marks the exact spot where Shiryu's heart is located when, due to poor mastery of his technique, he leaves that space unprotected. The origin of the tattoo is unknown, and it appears to appear only in Shiryu's Cosmos.
Personality
Shiryu is a noble person with a strong sense of honor. He always stands out for his willingness to sacrifice himself for his friends and shows them great gratitude and loyalty, as seen when Seiya saved his life in their fight at the Galactic Tournament. His sense of sacrifice was what made Shura react, and so Shura offered him his cosmos so he could use his Excalibur technique. Shiryu frequently removes his armor, believing that it makes him dependent on it and unable to unleash his full power, pushing his body to unexpected limits. Shiryu seems to represent the ideals of Athena's Saints very well, as he was motivated to defeat Death Mask, who did not behave like a noble and worthy warrior. Likewise, Shiryu is not a person driven by fury and hatred, except for the one time he truly showed all his rage against Death Mask. Shiryu claimed to hate him with all his being and would unleash his fury on him until he saw him dead for touching his greatest treasure in the world, Shunrei. And even feeling hatred for an enemy, Shiryu was unable to gain an advantage over his enemy and shed his armor to fight on equal terms.
History
Shiryū was at the Graude Foundation, owned by Mitsumasa Kido, like the rest of his half-siblings (manga) when he was selected to be sent to a training center and obtain an armor. In the lottery held to select a training place, Shiryū was assigned to go to the Five Peaks of China, where he would train with the former master of the place, Dohko of Libra. After his arrival, Shiryū met his master (who would be like a father to him) and Shunrei, a very special girl for whom Shiryu would develop strong feelings. In the anime he also trained with a boy named Okko, although Okko did not remain under Dohko's tutelage for long. After six years of training, Shiryū managed to complete the corresponding challenge to earn the Dragon armor and be recognized as a Saint of Athena. The challenge was to make the great Rozan waterfall flow towards the sky, because according to legend, the great waterfall had descended from the Milky Way and whoever wanted to obtain the dragon armor had to return the waterfall to its origins. After obtaining his armor, Shiryū participates in the Galactic Tournament and in his first (and only) combat he faces Seiya, Saint of Pegasus. At first, the Dragon Saint takes the advantage, because it is said that he has the strongest fist and the strongest shield among the Bronze Saints. However, halfway through the combat when he has the advantage, Shunrei appears, and brings him news that his master is about to die.
History.
This leaves Shiryū bewildered by the news and this causes him to be gradually overcome by Seiya, who destroys his fist and shield in a suicidal attack. Because of this, both continue the battle without their armors. Finally, Seiya defeats Shiryū taking advantage of the weak point of the Dragon's attack; As a thank you to Seiya for having saved his life, Pegasus's blow stops Shiryū's heartbeat. Finding himself almost on the verge of death, he is saved by Seiya, who violently hits him in the back to reactivate his heart. It is worth noting that after this fight, a special bond is created between Seiya and Shiryū that unites them strongly because Seiya saved his life. Shiryū takes the Pegasus and Dragon Cloths to the only armor repairer that exists: Mu, who is in Jamir. Once Shiryū meets him, he discovers that only by giving a large amount of his blood can he revive the armors that have died. Out of gratitude to Seiya, Shiryu does not hesitate to give his blood to repair the armors, especially that of Pegasus, since he owes his life to Seiya. Faced with such a display of sacrifice, Mu helps him so that he does not lose so much blood and the two armors can be repaired. Shiryu arrives at the scene of the battle on Mount Fuji and dresses in his dragon armor helped by Kiki. Shiryu faces two black knights in the darkness of the caverns, since one of them was blind he could move well in the dark, Shiryu discovered his existence and defeated him and then go after the Black Knight's brother. In the confrontation with the Black Saints, led by Ikki, Shiryu faces his double, the Black Saint of the Dragon, who takes the advantage in the fight, because Shiryu is just recovering from having given half of his blood to repair the Pegasus Cloth and Dragon Armor.
History.
To defeat him, Shiryū has to unleash his entire cosmos. To do so, he frees himself from the Dragon Armor and, using his Rising Dragon, finally defeats his rival. This effort causes blood to gush out of Shiryū's body through his pores. Resigned to dying, he is finally saved by the Black Dragon, who uses his technique to stop Shiryū's bleeding, as Shiryū has managed to convince him with his sacrifice that friends are worth fighting for. Some time later, Saori would be kidnapped by the Silver Saints sent to kidnap Saori and take her to the sanctuary before the Patriarch. It is there that Shiryū faces Algol of Perseus, who uses his Medusa Shield to turn Shun and Hyoga into stone while Seiya was unconscious, although Shiryū is saved from being petrified thanks to the Dragon Shield, capable of protecting him from the Medusa's gaze. When Algol finds out that Shiryū is a student of Dohko of Libra, he thinks that their fight will be interesting. Algol challenges Shiryū to see which of his shields has the most power. Algol tells him that Seiya and Shun will remain like stones unless he manages to kill him. Shiryū attacks Algol with the Rising Dragon but fails to hurt Algol because while attacking he looks away to avoid Medusa's gaze, and thus cannot use his full strength. Algol hits Shiryū with a kick and he protects himself with the Dragon Shield and Algol tells him that with any other shield he would not have been able to survive. Then Algol begins to kick Shiryū a series of times and he covers himself with the Dragon Shield, although Algol ends up knocking him down. Shiryū remembers the mythological story of Medusa, and tries to use the same tactic that Perseus used against her in mythology.
History.
At first, Algol doesn't understand Shiryū's intentions. As the two prepare to fight, Algol disappears from the Dragon Shield's reflection, much to Shiryū's surprise. Algol falls from the sky and uses his "Ra's Al-Ghūl Gorgoneion" technique to have the snakes on Medusa's head paralyze Shiryū, hitting him with several kicks as he falls and knocking him down. Algol tells Shiryū that he too knows the story of Medusa. Shiryū gets back up, much to Algol's surprise. Shiryū then tears off some cloth from his pants and uses it as a blindfold. Algol thinks Shiryū is going crazy. Shiryū lunges at Algol, but the Medusa Shield manages to break the blindfold, much to Shiryū's surprise, and petrifies his left arm and the Dragon Shield. Algol tells him that he narrowly escaped Medusa's attack by trying to attack him like that. Algol lunges at Shiryū and kicks him to the ground. As Algol prepares to turn Shiryū into stone, Shiryū kicks him in the leg and quickly gets up to tell him that he has to keep fighting him. It is then that Shiryū makes a painful decision by injuring his eyes and going blind so he can fight without fear of the Medusa Shield. Algol tells him that he is crazy, and that now he is blind he has lost his greatest advantage. Shiryū tells him that it was his only option. Algol lunges at Shiryū and punches him several times in the stomach. Finally, with the help of Athena, Shiryū knows where Algol is and knocks him down with the Rising Dragon, destroying the Medusa Shield, Algol's armor and killing Algol himself. Before dying, Algol recognizes Shiryū's bravery by injuring his eyes in order to kill him.
History.
After losing his sight to Algol, Shiryu was adjusting to his life as a blind man. In fact, he had dedicated himself to working the land in the Five Peaks. Dohko asked him if he liked that life better, to which Shiryu replied that he did, that such a peaceful life in contact with nature gave him more satisfaction than fighting for Saori, for whom he felt no devotion and that he didn't need to wear his armor again. When Deathmask of Cancer arrived to take the old Master's life, Shiryu faced him, but the differences in their levels were too noticeable to the point that it could have ended in the saint's death had it not been for the intervention (and revelation) of Aries Mu, who made that battle end before Deathmask used the Infernal Waves against Dragon. Deathmask retreated, telling Shiryu that if he wanted a rematch, he would be waiting for him at the sanctuary. He had a brief confrontation with Aries Mu, who presented himself as an enemy. However, the Gold Saint was only testing them. There, Mū repairs his Cloth along with the other four Bronze Saints belonging to his companions and is instructed in the knowledge of the true cosmos: the Seventh Sense. Shiryū is struck down (like the rest of his companions, except Seiya) and misses the beginning of the fight. He then joins the rest of the Bronze Saints to fight Aldebaran and in a combined attack with Hyōga they manage to freeze the Gold Saint's arms, so Aldebaran allows them passage to the stairs that lead to the House of Gemini. Shiryū and the others enter the House of Gemini together. However, when they leave they notice that they are back at the entrance, but this time there are two Gemini temples.
History
He enters with Seiya into the temple on the right. There they are presented with the illusion of the Saint of Gemini, but Shiryū, being blind, is not affected. Upon realizing that the entrance is located right behind the supposed Gold Saint, they manage to leave this temple unharmed, without being within reach of the effects of the illusion. They arrive at the house of Cancer where Shiryū faces the Gold Saint Deathmask, who has an evil and sadistic mentality. With the attack of the Infernal Waves of Cancer, Shiryū is sent to the door of the world of the dead, there he sees Hyoga walking towards the Yomotsu. Shiryū tries to save Hyoga, but Athena appears and tells him that if he goes there, he would not be able to get out of the path and would end up falling into Yomotsu. Athena returns him again to the temple of Cancer, but he falls into the Infernal Waves again, there he is again on the verge of being defeated. However, Death Mask makes the grave mistake of attacking Shunrei (who was praying to protect Shiryu) telepathically, which provokes Shiryu's anger, who attacks Death Mask mercilessly. However, thanks to the golden armor, Death Mask is not harmed at all. During the fight, Shiryu attacks Death Mask's leg and the golden armor falls off. He then attacks his arm and so on until the armor abandons Death Mask due to his evil soul. Shiryu does not want to fight with an advantage and removes his armor. Shiryu awakens his seventh sense and manages to send Death Mask through the Yomotsu, an abyss that leads to the World of the Dead. Due to this effort, he manages to regain his sight.
History.
Upon arriving in Libra, Shiryu and his companions find Hyōga locked in the Ice Coffin that Camus had confined him in. The Libra Armor appears to help them, and Shiryu must choose the correct weapon that will free Hyōga from the ice without harming him. Finally, Shiryu decides on a sword from the Libra Armor, and with a single slash of his sword he manages to free Hyōga from the Ice Coffin. The Bronze Saints arrive at Capricorn's house and have apparently crossed without problems, but at the exit, Shura of Capricorn is waiting for them. Shiryu lets his friends go on while he stays to fight the Gold Saint. Shura takes the advantage in the fight with his Excalibur technique and the blade of his arms, completely destroying the armor and the dragon shield, and also confessing that he was the one who killed the traitor Aiolos 13 years ago. Shura manages to see the weak point of Shiryu's technique and attacks him directly in the heart, but Shiryu takes advantage of this to break Shura's hand. Shiryu doesn't have many chances left. During the confrontation Shiryu manages to cut Shura's hand instead of just breaking it and Shiryu accumulates his cosmos to the maximum and decides to execute the forbidden technique taught to him by his master, the Last Dragon, with which he takes Shura out of the Earth's atmosphere so that they both become cosmic dust by friction as they ascend into space. As they ascend, Shura asks Shiryu why he is sacrificing himself if he will lose his life as well, to which Shiryu replies that he is a true knight and that his life is for Athena.
History.
Shura is shocked, admitting that he has failed more as a Knight of Athena than as a Knight of Gold. At the last moment, Shura recognizes his mistake and removes his golden armor, which joins the dragon's body and protects it from being burned to death in the atmosphere. He also transfers part of his cosmos to Shiryu's right arm (which is why Shiryu will later be able to execute the Shura technique) and sends him back to Earth as he turns into stardust. When Ikki heads from the Temple of Virgo to the Pontiff's chamber, as he passes through Capricorn, he meets Shiryu, whom he sees fall with the Capricorn armor and to whom he says goodbye, both thanking the universe for allowing them to meet and be born as brothers. After a few months, Saori is kidnapped by Poseidon, who also floods the planet, and Shiryu and his companions have no choice but to go to the bottom of the sea to save her. The first Sea General he meets is Krishna of Chrysaor, who guards the Indian Ocean Pillar. Krishna presents himself as an arrogant warrior proud of his strength in front of a simple bronze knight and begins to attack Shiryu without wanting to hear his name. Krishna uses his spear to attack Shiryu, who has great difficulty dodging it and is wounded several times, even by the cutting air produced by the spear and after demonstrating his fighting spirit, Krishna feels obliged to ask the name of the Dragon knight who has shown a magnificent fighting spirit. But neither that nor the fact that his armor manages to shine like golden armor along with his shield helps Shiryu who ends up falling before the power of Chrysaor's golden spear.
History.
At that moment, while Shiryu is on the ground, he is contacted by the spirit of Shura, who tells him that he should not fear the spear, because he possesses a weapon as powerful as Chrysaor's spear, because in his right arm is the cosmos of Shura and with it his technique of the sacred sword Excalibur. Shiryu gets up and tries to break Chrysaor's spear with his right arm but it does not work, so Shiryu decides to take off his armor, because he believes that depending on it he will not be able to unleash his full power or the sword Excalibur that lies within his arm. And so Shiryu manages to catch Chrysaor's spear and break it with his new technique. But the general is not yet helpless, he takes a meditation position and begins to levitate while expanding his cosmos even more and the simple manifestation of his cosmos is enough to make Shiryu retreat and block all his movements. Shiryu can't get close, because Krishna's cosmos is channeled through his chakras and Kundalini energy. Krishna uses his ultimate technique, the Maharoshini, which seriously injures Shiryu, and the effect of the Maharoshini's "great light" causes Shiryu to gradually lose his sight. Shiryu is in trouble, he is losing his sight and can't get close to Krishna, Shiryu entrusts himself to Athena and manages to see Krishna's chakras, but it is his last chance before Krishna kills him with his technique, Shiryu attacks all the chakra points with Excalibur and finally manages to defeat Krishna.
History.
Shiryū manages to reach Poseidon's temple after his fight against Krishna and protects Seiya from an arrow that returns and sticks in his chest, sticking in Shiryū's. Later, together with Hyōga, Shun and Shaina offer themselves as a shield, to protect Seiya, and finally, with the union of their cosmos, he hits Poseidon with the arrow and they can go to the Main Stand where Athena is. However, Poseidon fully awakens and attacks them with his terrible power. At this moment, the golden armor of Aquarius appears and protects them, then Hyōga dresses in the armor of Aquarius and faces the power of Poseidon. When his power is about to be surpassed, Shiryū protects him with the shield of Libra. Shiryū dresses in the armor of Libra and together with Hyōga they face Poseidon whom they knock down with a combined attack with Seiya. But they don't have much time and they try to destroy the Central Pillar with the libra weapons but they all fail, before this, Seiya asks Shiryū and Hyōga to throw it with their techniques against the pillar, after a moment of hesitation his friends agree, but they must hurry because Poseidon is awakening. In the end Shiryū is attacked by Poseidon, in the manga Shiryū loses consciousness but in the anime he recovers and helps Saori with his cosmos to trap Poseidon. After a year of peace Shiryū is calm when suddenly he hears Shunrei scream, where he faces again with Algol of Perseus, Dante of Cerberus and Capella of Auriga who had been resurrected by Hades as long as they swore loyalty to him. But Shiryu manages to defeat them with his Rising Dragon. After that strange event Shiryu leaves for the sanctuary, leaving Sunrei again. Upon arrival he meets Ikki who confronts him saying that this is not the place for them, but Shiryu also confronts him, telling him that he is a knight of Athena and that it is his duty to her and her friends to be fighting and Ikki tells him where he can find Seiya.
History.
Shiryu witnesses the beginning of the fight between Dohko of Libra and Shion of Aries, whom he tries to confront but can do nothing against the former Pope. Dohko asks Shiryu to continue forward because not only resurrected knights have entered the sanctuary. Shiryu with Hyoga and Shun arrives at the Temple of Cancer, sensing the cosmos of a battle but seeing nothing, he continues towards the Temple of Leo, leaving behind Seiya and Mu captive in cocoons of Myu of Papillon. Shiryu and the other Bronze Saints arrive with Aioria and they all head to the Temple of Virgo to help Shaka, but upon arriving Shaka finds himself fighting with the resurrected knights in the garden of the Twin Salts, which they cannot enter. When the battle ends with the apparent death of Shaka, Shiryu tries to speak with Shura but the Golden Saints stop him because they will confront the traitors. Shiryū and the other Bronze Saints witness the clash of two of Athena's exclamations and, in order to avoid their devastating power, they raise them into the sky, becoming trapped by the rubble of the temple. Finally, Shiryū feels Athena's death in the distance, as they had not yet reached the top of the sanctuary. Upon arriving, he cries out of helplessness, and when Shion of Aries arrives, they all attack him to avenge the deaths of the fallen. But they are surprised to learn the truth of the resurrection of the Silver and Gold Saints and their plan to defeat Hades. After understanding everything, Shion repairs their armor with Athena's blood and they leave for Hades' castle to give Athena their armor. Shiryū arrives with the others at Hades Castle, where during the jousts he can say goodbye to Shura, who disappears when the twelve hours of life that Hades gave to the five Gold Saints who lost their lives in the Battle of the Twelve Temples run out.
History
Shiryu and the Bronze Saints arrive at Hades Castle where Shiryu is intercepted by the Minotaur's specter Gordon with whom he has a confrontation that Shiryu wins. Then they arrive in the middle of Radamanthys' fight against Milo, Mu and Aiolia, who defend them and tell them to move on. After Shura's time runs out and he says goodbye to him, a confrontation breaks out against Radamanthys, who easily finishes them all off until only Seiya continues fighting. Finally, when he is about to follow Seiya through the entrance to the underworld, Libra Dohko appears to explain to them about the eighth sense and together they launch into the next battle. Shiryu awakens the eighth sense and begins his journey through hell with Hyoga, apparently the two of them were after Seiya and Shun. Shiryu regains his sight, because in the world of the dead it does not matter that he is blind, because only the eyes of the soul matter in that place, just as had happened to him against Death Mask on Yomotsu Hill. Along the way, they meet Kanon, and now, in an unprecedented alliance, the three Saints of Athena continue their journey through the underworld. He kills Rock of Golem and then faces Phlegyas of Lycaon, but Phlegyas manages to defeat him alongside Hyoga, so Kanon intervenes to defeat him and move on. When Hyoga and Shiryu wake up, the next fight has already begun, as Kanon has already defeated Stand. Now they find themselves in trouble as Radamanthys arrives on the battlefield and informs them that Seiya is in Cocytos, and that Shun has taken his place as a guest of Hades. Kanon stays to face him, while Hyoga and Shiryu continue on. Hyoga and Shiryu manage to reach Guidecca when the Golden Saints have gathered to destroy the Wailing Wall. Shiryu manages to see Shura again and has the opportunity to say goodbye to him and Dohko.
History.
Before crossing, Shiryū faces three specters: Queen of Alraune, Gordon of Minotaur and Sylphid of Basilisk, protecting the entrance to the tunnel that led to the abyss that led to the Elysian Fields and who wanted a rematch. The fight against three specters is fierce, Queen manages to cut Shiryu's neck and Gordon manages to break his arm and his sword Excalibur, the fight with Sylphid is not easy either. Shiryu challenges the three to attack him at the same time, to force himself to unleash his full power and so they do. Finally, Shiryu manages to execute his master's technique, The Hundred Dragons of Rozan while remembering Shunrei in the five peaks praying for him. In the clash of powers, Shiryū is thrown to the other side of the Wailing Wall, in the super dimension where Hyoga was waiting for him, but something happens, Sylphid has survived and was preparing to continue fighting with Shiryu by throwing herself into the dimension, but having no divine protection, Sylphid is eaten by the dimension, understanding Radamanthys' concern in the castle, Shiryu and Hyoga leave for the Elysian Fields. Shiryu arrives at the Elysian Fields when Thanatos was about to attack Shun, but is easily knocked down by the ruthless god. When the 5 Bronze Saints gather, Thanatos attacks them destroying everyone's armor, so Poseidon helps them by sending them golden armor through the dimension of the gods and Shiryu wears the Libra armor. But Thanatos demonstrates his power and also destroys the most powerful armors of the knights, almost having lost hope, Seiya awakens his divine armor and defeats Thanatos leaving for the temple of Hades. When Shun was defeated by Hypnos' attack, Shiryu and Hyoga awakened their divine armors and managed to defeat the god of sleep, leaving for the temple of Hades.
History.
At the temple, with a combined attack with Hyoga and Shun, Shiryu manages to stun Hades and regroups with his companions to continue the fight. Hades is a fearsome god, as he even manages to damage five knights with divine armor, but no one gives up until Athena covers them with spheres so they can return safe and sound to Earth, because now that Hades has left his grave, Athena will take charge.
After Seiya's death, Shiryu and his companions leave Saori's protection to help her with her cosmos to finally defeat Hades.
Techniques/Attacks.
•Rozan Ryū Hi Shō: the user throws themselves at the opponent, using the strength of their body as a weapon to strike with a powerful impact. •Rozan Shō Ryū Ha: This consists of delivering a punch so powerful that it could reverse the flow of water in the Rozan waterfall.
