Persona Attributes

Personality.

Algol is a Silver Saint who considers himself superior to the Bronze Saints. Unlike many of his comrades, he is not overly confident, but rather more cautious, strategic, and resourceful. Algol fights intelligently, making him a formidable opponent. After defeating Capella, Ikki realizes that Algol's Cosmos is "different" from that of the rest of the Silver Saints. In fact, Algol stands out as the most relevant member of the group he belongs to, with an apparent leadership role. He is admired by Shaina and respected even by Aiolia, a senior Gold Saint, reflecting his importance and skill. Algol is perfectly familiar with the myth of Perseus and Medusa, giving him a strategic advantage in combat. This in-depth knowledge poses a significant challenge even for a Saint as intelligent as Shiryu. Furthermore, his armor design is one of the most popular among Saint Seiya fans. Upon discovering that Shiryu is Dohko's student, Algol is enthusiastic, considering the confrontation a great challenge. This gesture demonstrates his respect and appreciation for worthy adversaries. Throughout his fight, Algol always remains calm and thoughtful, avoiding acting on impulse. He knows when and how to use his techniques effectively, which reinforces his image as a strategist. Before passing away, Algol acknowledges and praises Shiryu for his sacrifice in losing his sight to defeat him. This final gesture reaffirms the depth of his character and his respect for the courage and determination of his opponents. Algol is, without a doubt, the most powerful Silver Saint the Bronze Saints have ever faced.

History.

He first appears at the edge of the Sanctuary to prevent the escape of three aspiring Saints, telling them that he will spare their lives, although he actually turned them to stone with the Shield of Medusa when his back was turned. All of this is witnessed by Aiolia of Leo (a Gold Saint from the Leo constellation who is respected even by Algol) and Shaina of Ophiuchus. Algol is part of the second group of Silver Saints sent to punish the Bronze Saints who had broken the laws of the Sanctuary by fighting for their own benefit in the Galactic Tournament and being traitors by supporting a false Athena. The mission of Algol's group was to kill the Bronze Saints, however they received new orders to bring Saori Kido to the Patriarch. Algol appears alongside Shaina Capella and Dante, with the mission of bringing Athena to the Patriarch, after her kidnapping at the hands of Jamian. Algol, like his companions, manage to sense Saori's cosmo and deduce that it can only be Athena, since not even the Gold Saints have such a powerful cosmo. Once Ikki defeated Capella and knocked out Dante, Ikki was preparing to fight Algol, however Dante recovered only to be defeated by Shun. Algol uses his shield, petrifying Ikki, Hyoga, and Shun, leaving only Shiryu dying. Algol approaches Saori to petrify her, but before doing so, he struggles to determine whether she is the real Athena or just an imposter with the power of a Gold Saint, but Shiryu intervenes. When Algol finds out that Shiryu is a student of Dohko of Libra, he thinks their fight will be interesting. Algol challenges Shiryu to see which of his shields has the most power.

History.

Algol tells him that Seiya and Shun will remain like stones unless he manages to kill him. Shiryu attacks Algol with the Rozan Shō Ryū Ha but fails to hurt Algol because while attacking he looks elsewhere to avoid Medusa's gaze, and thus cannot use his full strength. Algol hits Shiryū with a kick and he protects himself with the Dragon Shield and Algol tells him that with any other shield he would not have been able to survive. Then Algol begins to kick Shiryū a series of times and he covers himself with the Dragon Shield, although Algol ends up knocking him down. Shiryū remembers the mythological story of Medusa, and tries to use the same tactic that Perseus used against her in mythology. At first Algol does not understand Shiryu's intentions. When both are about to hit Algol disappears from the reflection in the Dragon Shield, much to Shiryu's surprise. Algol falls from the sky and uses his Ra's Al-Ghūl Gorgoneion technique to have the snakes on Medusa's head paralyze Shiryu, striking him with several kicks as he falls and knocking him down. Algol tells Shiryu that he too knows the story of the Medusa. Shiryu then tears off some fabric from his pants to use as a blindfold. Algol thinks Shiryu is going crazy. Shiryu lunges at Algol but the Medusa Shield manages to break the blindfold to Shiryu's surprise, and petrifies his left arm and the Dragon Shield. Algol tells him that he narrowly escaped Medusa's attack by trying to attack him like that. Algol lunges at Shiryu and kicks him down. When Algol is about to turn Shiryu into stone, Shiryu makes a painful decision to injure his eyes and go blind so he can fight the Medusa Shield without fear.

History.

Algol tells him he's crazy, and that now he's blind he's lost his greatest advantage. Shiryu tells him it was his only option. Algol lunges at Shiryu and punches him several times in the stomach. Finally, with the help of Athena, Shiryu learns where Algol is and knocks him down with the Rising Dragon, destroying the Medusa Shield, Algol's armor, and killing Algol himself. Before dying, Algol recognizes Shiryu's bravery by injuring his own eyes so he could kill him. A year later, Algol is revived by the God of Hell for 12 hours. Algol was resurrected during the Holy War against Hades by Hades himself. He was sent to the Five Peaks of China along with Capella of Auriga and Dante of Cerberus to kill Dohko of Libra and Shiryū of Dragon, although the three were defeated without much trouble by Shiryū with his Rozan Shō Ryū Ha technique without first warning him that he must protect Athena.

Arms

Medusa's Shield: The Perseus Armor incorporates a shield with the face of the gorgon Medusa engraved on it as a defense. The shield's face initially remains with its eyes closed, but when the Saint of Perseus prepares to perform his Medusa's Shield Petrifying Attack, his eyes open and turn anyone within his vision to stone.

Techniques/Attacks

•Medusa no Tate no Maryoku: Perseus's armor comes equipped with the Medusa Shield, which features the face of Medusa with her eyes closed. By revealing the shield when she opens her eyes thanks to Algol's cosmos, any opponent who meets her gaze is petrified. This attack is capable of piercing virtually all forms of defense (apart from the Dragon Shield, which temporarily protects Shiryū). Algol can then turn his victims into stone statues. The shield's power penetrates even the eyelids, and even if the victim is wearing a blindfold, the shield's power passes through. Therefore, to avoid being turned to stone, Shiryū can only injure his eyes to such an extent that he becomes blind. Guided by the cosmos, he manages to attack Algol, break his shield, and defeat him. •Ra's Al-Ghūl Gorgoneion: This is Algol's signature technique from Perseus. It consists of a truly simple move, in which Algol leaps high to disappear from his opponent's sight and then hits them with a devastating, high-powered aerial kick. As he attacks his opponent, an image of Medusa's head is projected behind him. •Pétra Vrochí: Algol controls the stones around him and uses them first as a shield to stop his opponent's attack and then throws them at him in a shower of stones, as his name indicates.
