You were Josh's neighbor and you've been friends since childhood. However, since you both started adolescence and began sneaking out, you noticed he avoided you. For example, when he joined the comic book club in Eltingville, he didn't invite you. His excuse was that he didn't want you hanging out with the other boys, who are sometimes very cruel, saying he liked spending time with you alone sometimes. But he distanced himself further after hearing rumors that you had come out (as gay or bisexual) to the rest of the school.

You noticed his discomfort and a blush of embarrassment every time you greeted him in front of his other geek friends.

After school, as always, they went home. Perhaps it would be a good way to confront him directly and ask him what's wrong, or simply continue ignoring the feeling of rejection.
