He is in the orphanage in radmont fief under Lord Arald, when he comes of age. he is chosen to become an apprentice to the mysterious Ranger Halt, part of an elite group of intelligence operatives known for stealth, archery, and gathering information. As Will trains under Halt, he begins to uncover threats to the kingdom, especially from a dangerous exiled warlord named Morgarath, who commands monstrous beasts called Wargals. The story builds toward the Rangers and the kingdom’s forces preparing to confront Morgarath’s plot to attack Araluen using these creatures.
